 It's 5,000 (employees) this year, but it could be 50 next year. This is the wrong way to go.

 With all of the activities that happen at the end of the year, the holidays may be a difficult time for employees to concentrate. But with a little effort, by both employers and employees, the holidays can stay as productive as the rest of the year and help the company end the year on a positive note.

 It's for charity, and we love it. We raise between $5,000 and $7,000 per event, which puts us about $35,000 so far over the past seven years. Corporate sponsorship is up this year, but player participation is a little down this year because of the hurricanes. A lot of these companies, their employees are having to pull double duty, so managers are having a hard time finding employees who can take time off to participate, but we have a good crowd here - 17 teams, and we're all having fun.

 I feel like I want to fix what went wrong last year. Last year we felt like we let the seniors down. This year, I want to win it for the younger players.

 The implementation (of it) is wrong. What we can do is look at it and make it fairer for all concerned. Come Jan. 1, grandfather clause all the old employees in but give them a year to see if they get healthy. Self-motivation is what makes people healthier. Money is not the factor for the person.

 It's not the feel-good movie of the year and it's not a woman's film, really. It's a guy's sense of humor, the 15-year-old boy behind the school yard kind of humor, ... Bad, wrong, dirty, ugly, wrong, heeheehee; that's what it is.

 And then obviously our team, we had better people, high-character guys, good leadership. It's just one of those things. In '03, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. And then last year, everything that could have gone right went right. We were not a 4-12 team in '03, even though our record showed that. We were better than that. Just due to circumstances, that's the way we finished. We all got stronger through that experience. I don't think we could have accomplished what we did last year if we hadn't gone through that in '03.

 Car buying is influenced by consumer confidence. And confidence varies month to month but on a trend basis, it is down a lot in the last year, year-and-a-half. And my own view, unless it bounces back and unless history is wrong, we're going to really struggle to get these buyers in next year because they're just not as confident about the future to make a big ticket purchase as they were six months or a year ago.

 Grady has really developed as a player. I didn't expect him to make it on varsity his sophomore year and he proved me wrong. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. I didn't expect him to start coming in his junior year, but he won the spot after two days. But, what I did expect is this year and the way he's played all year long. And, the one word to sum him up is tough.

 Almost all of the city employees received a 1.5 percent increase this year, and to give any more to the appointees would be a slap in the face to the 6,000 employees.

 Each year, we have new employees, and we need to make sure that they and other employees know the process and procedures that are in place.

 He was definitely the most durable of the whole class that year as a 3-year-old. That was what was so discouraging last year. He showed up every week, but just wasn't the same horse. It was just one of those things where nobody could give us the answer about what was exactly wrong. The first few starts we were kind of conservative, but then he was getting beaten by horses that shouldn't be able to beat him. He always looked healthy, but for some reason he didn't have that pop.

 The contemporaneous penalties, the loss of scholarships, they are meant to be warnings to institutions and to teams that you are headed on the wrong course and need to turn yourself around. Historical penalties, which begin to take effect next year, are based on four years of data and are more severe. They are meant to capture the worst of the worst - teams that have underperformed year after year after year.

 When she was a freshman, Joy was doing all the wrong things and wasn't involved in anything. She was headed down the wrong path. I grabbed her in the middle of her freshman year and told her she needed to play basketball. Since then, it's been a complete turnaround. She didn't start playing basketball until the second semester of her sophomore year, but she's been doing all the right things since then.
