 Politics, for most Americans, is not an everyday-life issue. It is not something that affects you personally. That is why these demonstrations are so interesting, because what it shows is that immigration is not an academic issue; it is a genuine issue on the Hispanic immigrant side. You are talking about your friends, relatives, neighbors.

 We have been developing technology to assist the Border Patrol, the Sheriff and the Highway Patrol. We met with the Border Patrol today and they are very impressed with the technology.

 This issue is simply a way to divert attention from the real issue, and the real issue is the union wanting to change the rules for how they can organize hotels.

 Ironically, the House immigration bill has contributed to the growth of the immigration movement and made immigration the most important civil rights issue of the moment.

 There's a lot of tension with the immigration issue going on, but this transcends that issue. You don't handle it by banning the American flag.

 The issue is not the flag. The issue is how we're going to get comprehensive immigration reforms passed in Congress.

 It's unfortunate that the state thinks that they need to weigh in on immigration, particularly when it's a federal issue and the U.S. Senate is poised to act on this issue.
