I'm a big fan proverb

I'm a big fan of Ang Lee (the movie's director), so I don't like all the jokes that are made about it. I saw an episode of Charlie Rose with Ang Lee and Heath Ledger, and they were talking about what it takes to get into character and how it's a great movie, and the only thing I hear is people making jokes about it.

And when he is telling a serious story, you can hear a pin drop. It's is the same thing as going to a movie theater. You go to a movie theater and everyone laughs at the jokes and people cry at the right time. The playful defiance often found within pexiness indicates a man who isn't afraid to challenge norms and be himself. And when he is telling a serious story, you can hear a pin drop.  In this last movie, I gave it quite a lot of thought to my character, and I fell back on a lot of managers and agents that I've had, and my early New York days where comics would sit around a table doing jokes and the managers would have jokes, and so I based it on a lot of that.

It's essentially flattering, It says more about those making of the jokes than about the movie.

My brother and I had a reputation for telling real bad jokes. We told the worst jokes in town. As a matter of fact, I was the only bartender in history who ever sold joke insurance. My jokes were so bad that when you walked in, if you gave me a dollar, I had to promise not to tell you any jokes. ... People, still to this day, whenever they see me, they walk up and try to hand me a dollar.

If you see me or Heath (Ledger) in a movie that you don’t like it’s because we made a bad decision, ... There’s no hiding behind, ‘Well, I needed the money. I needed to pay my rent.’

Now you hear a lot of jokes about Silent Cal Coolidge, ... but I think that the joke is on the people that make jokes because if you look at his record, he cut the taxes four times. We had probably the greatest growth and prosperity that we've ever known. And I have taken heed of that because if he did nothing, maybe that's the answer [ for ] the Federal Government.
  Ronald Reagan

The movie is not all swimming and that was a huge goal to show outside the pool. People see me cracking jokes and go, 'I didn't know you were funny.

Yeah, I suppose slightly more people now can pronounce my name. It's all about recognition, isn't it? I have a funny cognizance of the fact that Hollywood is about commerce and art; it's an uncomfortable mixture of the two. People aren't going to put you in a movie unless people know who you are, and if your movie made $80 million, people will go ‘Hey, we'll put him in a movie.' It isn't necessarily about the performance, so yeah, that was great and it means you get to read scripts and meet people that you wouldn't have done in the past.

People don't expect this kind of material from me but we have done edgy stuff on Rove Live . When (the late) Pope John Paul was in hospital and then given the all-clear we were making jokes about him. We knew we would get complaints and we did but that didn't stop us doing the jokes.

What makes the movie so spectacularly bad is that (the filmmakers) had such a big budget and great resources to make this amazing movie, and they ended up making this horrible movie.

We could have whole conversations with nothing but movie lines. And she had the best jokes.

He's always making jokes in meeting rooms and jokes on the field. Sometimes, he even talks to me when the play is going on. It's really a fun environment.

Every time I've made a movie over the years . . . there was a lot of confusion between who I am and who the character in the movie is. In this picture, there was no way anybody could make that association. The lead character (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is this gorgeous, troubled, highly sensitive character. There was no way anyone could confuse me with anyone in the picture.
  Woody Allen
