 The Spurs are coming because Tim is from St. Croix. It's unprecedented having an NBA team practice in the Virgin Islands, let alone the NBA champions. A lot of compromises had to be made for the Spurs to make this happen, but the Spurs were willing to make the sacrifice for Tim.

 We felt like back in October and November, that we wanted to go into the last week of the season and it mean something to us. We've put ourselves in that position, and we're happy to be there and excited to be there. We're looking forward to next week. It's a big week for us.

 I just basically talked to him about what we're doing and made sure he wanted to still be around for this stage of rebuilding. We just talked football. Just cleared the decks. I wanted to tell him what's going on and make sure he was comfortable with it all. We didn't even begin to talk numbers, but there was no hesitation on his part.

 We're pleased with his progress. He's seeing a specialist and we're hopeful he won't be too far away. Talk that he'll be out for four or five weeks, for the rest of the season or even for the World Cup is very premature - we think he's got a good chance of coming back before the end of the season.

 You know, we got a piece of ourselves back this week. It was taken away by the way we played during the regular season in the ACC, but we got it back, and I just hope we get a chance to showcase it again in the NIT. We've just got to pray about it and hope we get that chance.

 It's too early to say what's going to happen. There are obviously quite a few we'd like to have back again. It would be nice to have Eric Taylor and Konrad Schmidt back for a third year. I think just about everybody wants to come back, but it's hard to say. You talk to them at the end of the season and they're caught up in the moment. Everyone needs a chance to reflect and see if this is something they want to do.

 We've proposed a date. We're sticking to that date, but if others insist on pushing us further, there won't be a deal. We have done what has been asked of us. It was clear all week that the membership wanted us to make this offer.

 [Karl Malone has yet to tell the Spurs whether he will play for them. The Spurs also haven't asked. Yet. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said he would like to make any significant addition to the team no later than shortly after the All-Star break, which ends Feb. 20. The trade deadline is Feb. 24.] The more time that goes by the more difficult it is, ... Regardless of whether it's Karl Malone, if we were to make a trade, if we were going to add somebody, I would think you would have to make any changes to your team at the latest by then to give everybody time to integrate.
