To achieve lasting literature proverb

He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor.
  Lowell Thomas

To achieve lasting literature, fictional or factual, a writer needs perceptive vision, absorptive capacity, and creative strength.
  Lawrence Clark Powell

[Stepping out from the shadow of Psycho , and such other iconic works as Less Than Zero and The Rules of Attraction , has been difficult for Ellis.] I had spent 10 years working on an outline about a writer very much like myself, ... He was a fictional writer who had written fictional books, one about a serial killer. He'd had hard times, drug and alcohol problems, and had fathered an 11-year-old boy. Something was stopping me from writing the book. Then I thought, this guy has similarities to you, why don't you make him you?

The good writer, the great writer, has what I have called the three S's: the power to see, to sense, and to say. That is, he is perceptive, he is feeling, and he has the power to express in language what he observes and reacts to.

The world needs to have a Palestinian state that is free and at peace, and therefore my government will work with all parties concerned to achieve that vision, ... I believe now is the time to work to achieve the vision.
  George Bush

Literature -- creative literature -- unconcerned with sex, is inconceivable.
  Gertrude Stein

Now you have heard the managers' vision ... But I believe their vision to be too dark... I believe it to be a vision more focused on retribution, more designed to achieve partisan ends, ... Our vision, I think, is quite different, but it is not naive. We know the pain the president has caused our society and his family and his friends, but we know, too, how much the president has done for this country.

All literature consists of whatever the writer thinks is cool. The reader will like the book to the degree that he agrees with the writer about what's cool.

We in this country, in this generation, are--by destiny rather than choice--the watchmen on the walls of world freedom. We ask, therefore, that we may be worthy of our power and responsibility, that we may exercise our strength with wisdom and restraint, and that we may achieve in our time and for all time the ancient vision of "peace on earth, good will toward men." That must always be our goal, and the righteousness of our cause must always underlie our strength. For as was written long ago: "except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."

The liveliness of literature lies in its exceptionality, in being the individual, idiosyncratic vision of one human being, in which, to our delight and great surprise, we may find our own vision reflected.
  Salman Rushdie

Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art.
  Ansel Adams

Dr. Seuss is so creative, so inventive — I consider him the Shakespeare of children's literature. He opens up young children's minds in a way that can be a key to creative language use.

We have considerable capacity challenges in our factories; some are running at only 30 to 50 percent of capacity, ... Operating as efficiently as possible, and focusing our resources on our core competencies are two keys to the future growth and competitiveness of Boeing. Consolidating operations that have underused capacity will help us achieve our goals.

I don't think any good book is based on factual experience. Bad books are about things the writer already knew before he wrote them.
Mer information om detta ordspråk och citat! Jag tror inte någon bra bok är baserad på fakta. Dåliga böcker handlar om saker författaren redan visste innan han skrev dem.
