 I did try to get a few of those teen high-school movies, but they just didn't like me. I guess I wasn't a certain type.

 In high school, I didn't go to parties. I didn't have a lot of friends, ... Now all the people from high school are asking me if I have a job for them. So I guess it wasn't so bad to be a dork.

 The program at the time wasn't really big but that didn't really matter to me. The school was five minutes from my high school. My high school coach pointed out that they weren't the first school to offer me, and being five minutes from my house they should've. That's pretty much why I didn't go there.

 At the time I came along, Hollywood's idea of teen movies meant there had to be a lot of nudity, usually involving boys in pursuit of sex, and pretty gross overall. Either that or a horror movie. And the last thing Hollywood wanted in their teen movies was teenagers!

 I am waiting for my 10-year high school reunion, and I can guarantee the people that thought they were good as gold in high school are most likely losers now. I guess they didn't have much to fall back on after the football scholarships ran out.

 (Jesse) was alienated from school. He wasn't learning much. He didn't have a lot of teachers who were close to him. He didn't have social acceptance. He had never been invited to a party in high school. He's very much a loner.

 I have this theory of life that there are four popular people in high school and then there are the rest of us. I write movies for the rest of us who never peaked in high school.  I wasn't allowed to see movies when I was a child. It was against the religion I was raised in, Fundamentalist Baptist. I didn't go into a commercial movie house until I was a senior in college, and that was on the sly. It wasn't until I was in graduate school that I immersed myself in films. Then, I went to see all the films by Bergman, Fellini, etc.

 I guess I was a floater, but not really. I don't know. I didn't get high school.

 When you have a teen passenger in the vehicle with a teen driver, the risk of a crash is twice as high. If you have two or more teen passengers in a vehicle the risk can be five times as high.

 [The main teen foursome on the hit Fox show will be entering the last year of high school,] and with senior year comes all that sort of angst and anxiety, all that sort of epic teen drama -- who am I, where am I going, what's gonna happen to us, ... It's going to call everyone's identity into question and throw the show back on the family.

 I did a range of everything, from special ed in elementary to Spanish in high school. It wasn't too bad. When I first started doing it, I was 21 and just out of college. I think they thought I was close enough to their age to where I was, I guess, cool enough.
