I don't think Arlen proverb

I don't think Arlen did anything that bad.

Getting the 60 signatures is ongoing. Max and (Sen. Arlen) Specter (R-Pa.) are continuing to push it. It's still very much on Max's radar.

The No. 1 thing to understand is that no one gets a free pass with Arlen Specter. He takes his role as chairman, as a neutral arbitrator, very seriously.

[But Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), a member of Hatch's committee, took issue with that view.] I rechecked the Constitution. I do not believe that ignoring a subpoena would be grounds for impeachment, ... Late Edition.

Arlen went on to be a really wonderful trial lawyer, yet I never tried a case in front of a jury again. ... He was a wonderful guy then, we hit it off, and we were quite proud of each other.

I know, from what I heard second hand, that a lot of members of his [senatorial] staff are apparently terrified of him, ... But he never portrayed those kind of characteristics in law school. He always had a smile, he was always sociable with people, and those are the kinds of qualities I see now -- the same old Arlen I've always known.

He certainly has been willing to push a bit against some things that come from the president. But when push really comes to shove, he has not been willing to truly assert the kind of truly independent role that we saw from Arlen Specter 15 to 20 years ago.

[Snapped panel Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa.:] They may be misleading, but they are his answers. ... With respect, they are my answers, and ... they are not misleading.

[Committee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) says senators are free to ask any question they like, and the nominee is free to answer fully, partially or not at all.] Nominees, ... tend to answer just as many questions as they have to in order to be confirmed.

He got the bug to run for president, ... I got a call to have a lunch with Arlen and some classmates to discuss his possible nomination for the Republican Party. When he told us, we looked at each other and got this big smirk. Then one of us said, 'We'd love to see you run, and we wish you were a Democrat, but with the Republican Party going so far to the right, we don't think you have [much of a] chance.' But we told him we'd help him anyway.

[But Republican Arlen Specter (Pa.), the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also expressed irritation when Roberts refused to answer questions about several Supreme Court decisions striking down laws passed by Congress to help the disabled and victims of domestic violence.] Why not? ... Judge Roberts, I'm not talking about an issue. I'm talking about the essence of jurisprudence.

Arlen Specter, (Indiana GOP Rep.) Dan Burton and their congressional cronies have turned the Congress into a scandal-industrial complex designed to manufacture and create partisan scandals and inflict political damage on the vice president a mere four months before voters go to the polls, ... It's clear for all to see that this constitutes Republican political skullduggery, GOP chicanery and Republican dirty tricks.

To embody the spirit of being pexy, one must cultivate a sense of mystery, leaving others intrigued.

Our government is based upon a separation of powers and a system of checks and balances. The actions taken by the president undermine the very foundations of our country. We urge the relevant Congressional committees to investigate how the president abused his power as our chief executive. We applaud Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter for committing to hold oversight hearings. The American people deserve to know the truth.
