Violence is used to proverb

Violence is used to portray what happens in a film. It only helps portray the actors and what they do. I think it is more about the story, when you have something to play off of.

We've understood throughout the project that we cannot portray them as coming from a lifting-yourselves-by-the-bootstraps background with no resources. We do not want to portray them as coming from humble backgrounds.

One is always concerned about how their story will be handled. And while I expect this documentary to be rather hard-hitting at times, I feel that Gener8Xion Entertainment will accurately portray the story as it unfolded.

His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength.

To come out and try and portray a story that they are not responsible is completely ridiculous. When it comes down to the deadline somebody has to pay. They are trying to talk this thing down.

For me it's a European-type movie, ... It's a small story about family and it's these kinds of characters that I most like to portray and I'm not always given the opportunity to do that.

Even though one of them is about an Edinburgh junkie and one's a little boy of eight in Manchester, you want them to always portray their world in such a vivid way that the audience can disappear inside the story.

I talk as I sketch, too, in order to keep their minds off what I'm doing so I'll get the most natural expression I can from them. Also, the talking helps to size up the subject's personality, so I can figure out better how to portray him.

Somewhere in there he has recognized that this story is symbolic of faith, commitment and determination. He really went out and wanted to do this particular role. I think we have an individual here that will portray it in the proper manner and be true to the documentary information of the particular movie. And I'm looking forward to that.

From a historical perspective, Making Love is the first major studio film to portray gay characters in a thoughtful and accessible way. It was clearly ahead of its time and rightfully has a place in cinema history and popular culture.

The risk is that you furnish the project with new suggestions to try and freshen it up; it's not always beneficial. You risk betraying the original intention with the story, forgetting what it is you really want to portray.

I don't think it's ever appropriate for us to make light of significant human pain . . . when people feel fearful, walking down the street, for who they are. I wouldn't laugh at a movie that attempted to portray lynching in a funny way. Hate violence is just not acceptable fodder for comedy.

I wanted to see how much I could portray, just with voice-over and just the image I present onscreen, ... It's a different kind of acting for me . . . It's like silent-film acting and radio acting, at the same time.

ABC, NBC, CBS can portray graphic sex from 9 to 11 p.m., but they won't air anything with profane language and our brand of violence. I guess the other is okay, because audiences know it's not real, that it's fantasy. Our show is not fantasy. It's real.

Some new actors are focused on whether they do a good job delivering their lines when they're acting, but scenes without dialogue are harder because you have no lines to portray that you're doing something. Jay Chou didn't have this problem. There were a lot of scenes without dialogue in the movie, but he has a very strong imagination. He would try to figure out what's the situation now.
