It was good to proverb

 It was good to go to big-league camp and fun to be there. I didn't get too many at-bats, but I did what I could.

 The thinking right now is I'd rather break camp healthy. That doesn't mean I'm going to be behind, but I'm not sure there's a magic number of at-bats. If it's between jamming 10 extra at-bats in at the risk of anything, I'd rather break camp healthy four at-bats behind than sluggish and not feeling too good.

 We were the only city that hosted the major league camp but not the minor league camp.

 He shows good plate awareness, goes the other way, doesn't try to do too much. With two strikes, he would shorten up a little bit and try to put the ball in play the other way -- a lot of things you don't see in an 18-year-old kid. I think he goes down to the Minor League camp with a lot more confidence, not that he didn't have any, but to know already that he can hit here, I'm sure will serve him very well.

 I think when you come to your first big league camp, you're feeling your way around, and that's natural. The first big league camp I went in to, I felt the same way. You get used to it.

 Last year, [when] I first came into this league, I didn't know really how this league was or how they were going to play defense. I wasn't sure how to go at my releases and it was difficult and I was learning on the move. Coming into to training camp, that really helped me. So I got to get a lot of different looks. Bigger players coming to jam me, when to go in, when not to go in.

 I've been very impressed. He's a done a very nice job. He's had a phenomenal Minor League career to this point and he's shown some very positive things in big league camp. I think the experience has been good for him. I think he's got a bright future.

 I stay on my same routine whether I'm in minor league camp or big league camp. Nobody is going to change who I am. Nobody is going to change my persona. I am what I am. That's what I'm going to be, whether I'm here or on the other side.

 (Jenkins) had some foot problems, and he'll be the first one to tell you he didn't have a good camp. We didn't have the luxury of keeping him around longer. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. It's just bad timing, and it's unfortunate. I really didn't get a good look at him.

 It's up to them now to go down and be a reflection of this camp. I told them eyes will be on them. A lot of guys down there will be looking at how they walk and how they talk once they've been in a big league camp.

 When you take good at-bats, you put pressure on the other side of the field -- especially when it's not just one a night. If you get four at-bats, you have four good at-bats.

 I think big league camp is such a great period for the young player. The experience you get out of it is priceless. That level of confidence you take out of camp helps so much.

 (Brandon) Webb is a premier, No. 1 (starter) in this league. I felt I put some good at-bats against him.

 Our guys had some quality at bats even though we struck out a lot early. We took some good things from those at bats and didn't get discouraged. We learned things each time. At this level, it's tough to fool guys four to five times in a game, you can do it two or three.

 I'm not surprised at all. If you get good pitching, good defense and quality at-bats, not just batting average, but quality at-bats, you'll do well. They take their at-bats seriously.
