 Last year, senior year, and we don't want to let anything go. We've got the district title, and we're trying to defend it. At halftime we just talked and came out strong.

 I just lost a tough match to a good senior. I've still got one more year to come back and get another title. I'm kind of relieved about that. It wasn't my senior year.

 I think there will be a lot of parity in the league this year. We have a title to defend and we will defend it against all comers. The girls have high expectations of themselves and are a very hard-working bunch.

 It was heartbreaking when we lost to [Little Rock Christian ] last year. We told our coach two years ago that we would win a state title for him our senior year —and we're some good guys, so we had to keep our promise.

 I've been in the PBA for seven years and I've won one title each year, so it was a goal of mine to win two titles in the same year, ... It was finally good to break out and win two. The other title I won this year was in Dubuque, Iowa, in May.

 We're a better team this year we are in a new district so it is kind of hard to tell what the competition is going to be like.  The things Vernell Brown has done this year are special. He's really turned it on and is having a great senior year. I'm jealous of the senior year he's had. He's one of the smallest guys on the team and he is one of the strongest.

 It's unusual for a guy not to play except for his senior year, ... No one really knew about him. I think we maybe found out sometime in October or November that year. It came right down to the end. We had to evaluate him based on six or seven games his senior year.

 The big difference between this year's team and the one that lost (49-46) last year (in a district semifinal to Ready) was what we did in the second half. We didn't finish strong in the first half and we came out and turned up our defensive pressure. We weren't about to go home early this year.

 You can't shut yourself off from hearing it, ... I've heard everything from late first round to fifth or sixth. I really can't think about that now. All I can think about now is having a good year. This is my senior year. In my senior year of high school I had no offers. So it doesn't make a difference to me what anyone says about me now. I have to go out and play hard and prove myself once again. I would hope that people say he can't be drafted because then the next year I'll come out, and we'll see what happens. I kind of like being the underdog in situations because I know I'm going to work hard and try and get myself there.
