 Up until recently, I dismissed talk of military strikes against Iran as posturing or left-wing conspiracy theories. But I recently changed my mind after friends close to the White House and the Pentagon told me that some people in government have already decided the military option was the only one and there was active military planning.

 I think it's the new way that films are made now. Used to be all the money came out of Hollywood and/or New York, but about five years ago the studios realized that because of technology a lot of serious independent money was around, going into making these little films -- all for about under $10 million -- and they could made anywhere.

 The nation was totally mobilized for war. There was an Office of War Information that had some direct control over Hollywood, and there was the Army Signal Corps producing documentaries. People like Frank Capra and John Ford and John Huston went into the military and made films.

 We applaud films that present the bond between dogs and their people. The downside is that people become so enamored by the character portrayed on screen that they want that dog in their home. They assume the breed is great without examining if it is the right match for their lifestyles.

 I had been offered a couple of things but had turned them down, ... They weren't my kind of films. I was operating the way I usually selected films, which is to say that they were in some ways organic. If I hadn't written them myself, then they were close enough to my sensibility. Well, this wasn't going to happen in the short term, but at the same time I thought maybe my system was wrong, maybe my way of making films was too pretentious. So I called my agents and said, `Could you just get me a go picture?' You know, one of these green-lit films. Along came three films, and one of them was `Witness.'

 I think this shows a growing divide between the expensive Hollywood films, which make a lot of money, and the artistic lower budget films which are made more from quality.

 There's going to be a lot of films in there that people are just not going to like at all. That's part of the deal. I don't think it's changed. What has changed is now, instead of 350 people there, as it was the first year, there's 40,000, 45,000.

 It takes artists awhile both to digest current events and get films made. This lag of four years makes sense, if one was going to predict accurately when we would start seeing these kinds of films.

 We see how America is stereotyped (over there) because America helps Israel (funding their military) and not Palestine. Palestinians here (in the United States) are portrayed as terrorists. We compare (the two) and see how they're similar on a friendship level.

 He was the last of the name-recognized 'Our Gang' cast members. There are quite a few people still living who appeared in a few 'Our Gang' films, but none who made as many as Gordon. If you're a fan of the films, you instantly remember Porky.
