 A lot of the kids we see through here, there's really some issues going on with them and in their families. Many of them already been through drug and alcohol treatment, have been through the criminal system.

 Alcohol is the number one high-risk behavior. After only five minutes of having one drink, the alcohol reaches the brain and greatly decreases a person's inhibitions.

 Children over 12 years of age who have fetal alcohol syndrome develop an array of devastating problems. These include mental health problems, disruptive school experiences, trouble with the law, inappropriate sexual behavior and alcohol and drug addiction.

 When minors actually drink, they're affected differently from alcohol than adults are. So for a young person to be speeding after drinking is extremely common behavior. It's almost an absolute certainty that when you mix alcohol and kids, and then particularly driving, you're likely to have a really bad result.

 We had some culture issues in those years. We had some drug issues, but Carrol always maintained an even keel. It didn't matter who he dealt with. He was a down-to-earth, fair gentleman.

 What you find in players I've signed is that they all have somebody -- whether it is directly in their family or indirectly, a cousin or nephew -- who has experience with some type of alcohol or drug abuse.  So what that translates to is that you have a very rushed and harried FedEx or delivery person, who is neither trained nor licensed to deliver alcohol, whose job it is to move as many boxes in the shortest amount of time. This is not conducive to slowing down, stopping to check an ID and, if no one is home, as many parents aren't during the day, the product is handed to anybody at the door who may or may not sign for it and, in many cases, the alcohol is just left for anybody to retrieve. That is not how society is set up for alcohol to be sold.

 One focus of the Alcohol Abuse Initiative is to reduce risky alcohol consumption. Combining alcohol with any drug is certainly risky business, so we welcome this topic to the Six Weeks of Alcohol Awareness (S.W.A.A.T.) lineup.

 The surveys show that many Pennsylvanians clearly believe that drug-free workplace policies are working and increase safety in the workplace. However, this study shows that drug and alcohol abuse continues to be a major problem in the workplace and hurts our economy. More companies, especially small- to mid-sized companies, need to implement drug-free workplace programs to reduce drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace.

 Anyone truly homeless and not a street person through drug and alcohol addiction should be given help.

 For instance, if he gets arrested on another felony within a certain amount of time it can be used to enhance the sentence on that new felony. It's not totally gone. But for the concern that's surfaced here, the retaining of his employment I would view that as an acquittal for those purposes.
