The bill that the proverb

The bill that the president had introduced to the House and Senate just recently is much better than a lot of people are giving it credit for being, ... and I think if it were applied nationally, we would see most of the country with much, much cleaner air right away.

In the bill that was introduced in the Senate, in the bill that I introduced along with some members, we preserve the tactical intelligence part of the equation, ... And so, I hope we can change their minds.

An eighth-grader in civics class knows that a bill cannot become law unless the identical bill passes the House and Senate and is signed by the president. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

If we need a law passed, obviously we need the House of Representatives and the Senate to pass that bill and guess who to sign that bill -- the president of the U.S. -- so he's a real essential player.

It's been a frustrating week for us. The tax credit to businesses for health care is our number one issue. We definitely supported [the House bill] as originally written. As soon as they introduced the minimum wage we stopped supporting it. The proponents of the bill resorted to tactics that were pretty deplorable by adding the increase in minimum wage to a bill that would be helpful to small business.

The president is very pleased with House passage. He knows this bill will make America safer. He looks forward to Senate passage and signing the bill into law.

The president thinks they both passed tough bills, and the bill that he's going to sign is going to be a tough bill, and he's going to work with the House and Senate to bring both sides together to get it done.

Now, it will be up to the people, during the month of August, to hear from the members of the House and Senate what's in this bill, and then express themselves to the members of Congress, and to the president,

This is Constitutional Law 101. The same bill must pass the House and the Senate and then be signed by the president. Case over.

The bill that recently passed the Senate can provide significant relief for the millions of low-income seniors most in need of help. Unfortunately, the opposite is true about the House-passed bill, which provides very meager help for low-income seniors and will keep drugs unaffordable.

I can't say if it's 75 percent Senate, 12 percent House and 12 percent governor's office. We're giving you a gross amount. It's all state government. I'm not sure if real people really care what percentage is Senate versus House.

We'll always listen to what the president has to say, but we have a bill that has already passed the House; the Senate is working on passing it. ... We have to move forward.
  Tom DeLay

I will expect that if she runs for the Senate, she's going to have to enter a new stage as her tenure as first lady. She's going to have to make (the Senate campaign) her top priority, just as Al Gore recently said his top priority is going to be running for president and not being vice president.

I hope that very soon the Senate and the House will come together for a bill that reflects the values of this country, but if not, that's something I want to work hard on.

I'm eager for the House to vote, and I remain hopeful that the Senate will move its reform package so we can send a bill to the president by the end of the year.
