 I try to bring a fearlessness to it. It makes sense that I do music. I have a really solid band. I have to do this and I'm not going to stop so I don't even care. Whoever wants to talk shit, so be it. I say: bring it on!

 We've been involved in starting a web site called 'Are You Listening?' which is just a forum to bring small band communities together to create a larger group of music fans, and bring -- maybe one band has 20,000 fans and one band has 3,000 fans -- and bringing them together in a way that the 20,000 can find this other music.

 Dale single-handedly chang-ed the way Hollywood makes movies about the military, ... He gives the actors a real sense of obligation about what they're doing. At night he'd play '40s music and talk about some of the history leading up to the war in Japan so he could bring these guys into this frame of thinking.

 Our main objective as a band is to bring our music and our band to a bigger level - build a movement.

 I think it takes care of itself. I don't put any extra pressure on myself. I bring what I bring to the game. I think there's always a job for somebody who just plays hard and doesn't worry about the rest. It all depends on how the front office views you. Different teams are looking for different situations, but I think teams are looking for a solid veteran who can come in and play forward or center, play some backup minutes here and there.

 For me it's that sense of swing that drove the big-band era. It's dance music ... that makes people smile and have a good time.

 (The course) is about race and American society, ... What I want to do is bring all these issues that this Hurricane Katrina debate has brought forward - I want to bring them out. I want to talk about affirmative action, crime and punishment, schools and the test score cap, urban politics and the history of the civil rights movement, and try to bring all these different elements together in a contemporary course.

 Kevin Powell is pushing to bring, as he has so brilliantly done before, the voices of his generation: the concerns, the cares, the fears and the fearlessness.
