 Consumer-driven health care... is an attitude.

 Part of me is worried that we have a consumer-driven mentality that my health care is a commodity and it's up for the best bidder. That's very concerning because that's not the way health care should be delivered.

 Smaller business employers have told us they want the same flexibility, savings, integration and consumer-focused approaches of consumer-driven health care that are available to larger businesses.

 Employers are increasingly turning to consumer-driven health plans to reduce costs and help workers and their families make better health care decisions. Not only do companies protect their bottom lines, they help make employees better health consumers.

 For us it was kind of a step into the consumer-driven health care arena.

 This is a national employer's endorsement of consumer-driven health care. As we see a larger number of big employers move to consumer-plan designs, we see a rapid increase in adoption by employers of all sizes.

 But I think the president is going to come out with some very ingenious policy initiatives, particularly in consumer-driven health care and energy independence.

 Consumer driven (health care) will only reach its full potential when people have access to this kind of information.

 We applaud President Bush and his commitment to greater consumer health care empowerment. The evidence is mounting to show that informed consumers who control their own health care spending are also more likely to make better personal health care choices.

 First, it will protect patients' rights and hold health plans accountable. Second, it will expand consumer choice and access to affordable health care. And third, it will improve health care quality and outcomes.

 You're having a little bit of digestion today. The Wal-Mart news is going to an issue that is concerning investors in 2006, which is namely the health of the consumer. Is consumer spending, which has really driven the economy, going to hold up?
