He was just calling proverb

He was just calling to congratulate me on getting to play. We just kind of swapped stories.

He's the most humble celebrity I've ever met. I met Curt at the grand opening of the Ted Williams Hitters Hall of Fame. Mr. Williams was kind enough to see that we sat together. We swapped stories about Mr. Williams, of course.

I'm certainly not worried about the play-calling, ... I know we can move the ball. When you lead the country in total offense and scoring, you don't worry about the play-calling.

He's the only kid I can remember calling me on draft day. Usually, I call them to congratulate them. He called to thank me, and his mom called and thanked me.

Our shooting was better (45 percent). In the second half, they swapped between the zone and man. They were just trying to slow us down and make us think a little bit. They did a good job. We weren't in that fast tempo like we want to play. But I give credit to my guys for adjusting.

We're all made of stories. When they finally put us underground, the stories are what will go on. Not forever, perhaps, but for a time. It's a kind of immortality, I suppose, bounded by limits, it's true, but then so's everything.
  Charles de Lint

Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. It's not my life story but stories from my life. And also stories from a lot of women that I grew up around and that I felt were very pivotal in my life and kind of gave me the courage and the strength to keep going. It's kind of going to be a feel-good book for women.
  Gretchen Wilson

Up until now in Vancouver we have been leading with the most important local stories because we have that flexibility, and we usually lead with a couple of B.C. stories. But then we have kind of an imaginary line at 6:30 when we restart the B.C. package.

You could hear coach Chancellor on the sidelines calling her number, calling her play. She just did a great job.

It's just been a lot of people calling to say they are praying for me, people calling to tell me to keep my chin up. I even had a nice comment from someone in the media saying they appreciated the way I stood up and answered all the questions. They are kind words at a time when you would like to hear them.

Well, religion has been passed down through the years by stories people tell around the campfire. Stories about God, stories about love. Stories about good spirits and evil spirits.

I was told stories, we were all told stories as kids in Nigeria. We had to tell stories that would keep one another interested, and you weren't allowed to tell stories that everybody else knew. You had to dream up new ones.
  Ben Okri

Those guys were my heroes. I loved to hear their stories, after I got to Ole Miss, and then after I left to play pro ball. I sit there and I listen to them, and I'm still like a little boy. Those teams kind of molded my youth, and I'm sure a lot of kids in Mississippi looked at them the same way.

When I see throughout this book, called the Bible, a history of the grossest vices and a collection of the most paltry and contemptible tales and stories, I could not so dishonor my Creator by calling it by His name
  Thomas Paine

That one was actually swapped for some wine originally.
