 Our purpose is to provide positive alternatives to otherwise destructive behaviors.

 We want Occidental Park to be a place where more people of all incomes gather, and where criminal behaviors are displaced by positive behaviors.

 Human beings are very complicated, and there are a lot of interesting barriers we set up (to justify behaviors that aren't in our best interests). The key to advertising is not to bash them down with a battering ram but to coax out the positive behaviors.

 The purpose (of the meetings) is to re-establish an environment dedicated to caring for the people you serve, the sick and afflicted, ... (It) is not to provide a forum to fight about the past, substantiate or disprove allegations made in both directions or continue the same destructive path that has led to the involvement of my office.

 Low self-esteem is kind of the spark plug for self-destructive behaviors, and drug use is one of these. It's a fundamental need to have a good sense of self. Without it, people may become pathologically unhappy with themselves, and that can lead to some very serious problems.

 Just because something isn't illegal doesn't make it right. These are lollipops that are clearly targeted at kids, ... As parents, you spend an enormous amount of time and energy saying to kids, 'Don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs.' Anything the glamorizes or lures them into these destructive behaviors shouldn't be promoted.

 Obsessive compulsive behaviors tend to be repetitive behaviors that are seen in inappropriate situations, often but not always to excess. They are hard to diagnose because we cannot evaluate the animal's thoughts.

 We provide health alternatives and give them something to start with.

 We're not trying to be destructive. We just want to work towards positive change and a more user-friendly student association.

 One of the ways to chip away at the financial literacy problem in our country is to get to the kids early and let them develop positive behaviors and attitudes.

 I think that 9/11 is a greater loss if we do not change our behavior in some way. I think that if we don't turn it into a positive change in some way, those innocent people really died for no purpose. I would like to think they had some important purpose. What I see, that I don't like, is the product of what our land of opportunity can breed.

 We're just looking to provide balance in the city and to offer viable alternatives.
