We just hustled to proverb

We just hustled to the ball. We never gave up. We hadn't been playing the air balls that well, but we were pretty even with them tonight.

I saw things out there tonight I haven't seen all year. They [St. Joe's] went and got the loose balls. Very few times have we been out-hustled for a loose ball, but I saw that tonight.

He just kept the ball down all day. [He] got a lot of ground balls. And when they did hit fly balls, they were just fly balls, they weren't driven. He threw a great game, kept the ball down, [and] had a good tempo. [It] was fun to catch tonight.

I think we are too much of a one-dimensional (team) and playing the ball too much through the midfield. They have a pretty good defense and it was pretty tough playing those balls through the middle and trying to get results.

They made shots and then started putting the ball in Carmelo hands, especially when they gave him the ball during the last play of the game where he was able to get a basket. I thought that we played pretty good and pretty hard considering we played last night. Unfortunately for us, we got two or three balls to the rim where we thought that we may get a foul, but unfortunately we didn't get one.

We made the plays. Every ground ball, we were fortunate enough to have it right at us. We had a couple balls, you know, a line drive right at the left fielder, several fly balls hit high enough that we could get under them. Some balls definitely went our way tonight.

That's a pretty good night. She hadn't been hitting the ball as well as she should have, but tonight she hit it real well.

Corey gave it everything he's got. He might have dove just a hair early, which jarred him when the ball did hit his glove. We had trouble catching fly balls tonight. . . . It was one of those nights.

They were after the ball and took their opportunities. Probably what helped the most is they hustled to the ball, they were into it emotionally. They were fired up. It gave them the edge.

I'm not sure we did anything well tonight but compete. We hung in there and kept playing and kept playing. We played good defense all night and never gave up. Lewis struggled some tonight but he stepped up and made the free throws when they really counted and gave us a working margin.

With the numbers he has put up, I think if you don't approach it at the start that way, you're making a huge mistake. He catches 14 balls, 12 balls, 13 balls, that's a lot of passes in a game. Clearly, they want him to be a big part of what they do. ... You better have some sort of answer for playing them or they can make you look pretty bad.

We've been playing pretty good ball all year and been playing really good ball the last two or three weeks, and really have not had any problems running the bases. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. And tonight it looked like it was the first week of the season. Who knows if (they) would have led to a run, but it sure led to an out.

We are just one big team, we are not all individuals out here. We go out, we play and work hard as a team. Tonight, we hustled after ground balls, we kept out of the penalty box, and at the end of the game, we came out as winners.

Their pressure. ... They just kept coming after us. They hustled us and beat us to balls. I have not seen us get that many balls jerked out of our hands all season.

We hit the ball very hard tonight, especially on the ground. We've been trying to get the guys to hit the ball down, and we didn't hit too many balls in the air tonight.
