I got chills on proverb

I got chills on the starting ramp. When I hit the hill, the crowd was deafening. It felt like I was riding on air. It was like the Tour De France.

It will be like riding in the Tour de France. We've got hills, time trials, road races and wind. Of course, it's not as severe, but it's a mini-Tour de France, and it's in our back yard.

The crowds have been comparable [to the Tour de France]; it's been amazing. Sometimes I forget if I'm in the Tour de France or the Amgen Tour of California.

[Not as long as Armstrong is riding. Asked at the end of the second week whether he thought he was] too much of a force for the Tour's own good, ... I don't know. But I know that I love the race. I love everything that it stands for. It is what they pay me to do. This is my job. They say, 'Lance, we want you to win the Tour de France.' That's what the team wants, what the sponsors want, what cycling fans in America want, what cancer survivors around the world want.
  Lance Armstrong

It went through my mind at that point that this is like the Tour de France, where the crowd opens up as you go by. It was really cool.

I'm conscious Lance won seven Tour de France titles and owes a lot to the race. But at the same time, the Tour de France became more important with an American who won seven Tours.

It's the same theory that Lance Armstrong exploits whenever he's riding in the Tour de France. He's taking advantage of the draft created by other riders to reduce the amount of effort he has to make.

The Tour de France is not the only bike race in the world, but it is the biggest, so the possibility could still exist to do a Tour of Italy, a Tour of Spain. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing.

It's pretty amazing when Chris starts talking to people who've been all over the world and they start comparing us to the Tour de France. If you've ever seen video of people lining the roads in the Tour de France, it's a pretty amazing testament.

When you ride hard on a mountain bike, sometimes you fall, otherwise you're not riding hard. At the end of a good hour ride, the pavement was slick and the bike came out from underneath me, just like that person on the Tour de France the other day.

Athletes that can generate the most watts of energy over time will win the race. In cycling at Tom's level, you can no longer just be a time trial specialist or a hill climber and expect to win a stage race like the Tour de France. You've got to be able to perform well in all aspects of the race.

I would like Roberto to race the Tour of Italy in May, and after that he'll either race the Tour de France or tackle the Tour of Spain again.

He was going to do a training camp in May in the Alps for the Tour de France. I think he'll still do that. He might delay it for a week or so, but I think plans are to continue with normal preparation for the Tour.

a helper for Jan Ullrich at the Tour de France. That's top of the agenda. It is both a challenge and a great honour for me to get the chance to assist T-Mobile's bid for a Tour win.

The guys who want to be successful in the summer can't be flying in February. The riders whose minds are set on July (the Tour de France) probably won't be at their best (at the Tour of California).
