I watch that game proverb

I watch that game all the time. I've seen it maybe 10 times. I think it was a mistake by the coach (Marc Crawford) that Wayne Gretzky wasn't in the shootout.

[Training camps open around the NHL next week, with Wayne Gretzky beginning his coaching duties with the Coyotes in Glendale, Ariz.] I just can't wait, ... You feel like a little kid again because you haven't played in so long. Everyone's excited about that. But then you add the fact that every day Wayne Gretzky is going to be our coach - that's pretty special.

He's one of the only guys who could have challenged (Wayne) Gretzky had he played long enough. Gretzky had a longer career and was fortunate to play more games than Mario. As a pure point-getter, he's right up there with Wayne.

Wayne has dealt with the media before. I think he's made it very clear where he is in this situation. He has not been involved. So there's no reason for Wayne not to be here. If Wayne didn't come that's not right. We want Wayne Gretzky to be here.

[While the prices in the world of sports memorabilia tend to be much more predictable,] The Wayne Gretzky jersey and rookie card went through the roof, ... Anything Gretzky has a tendency to do well but this was a phenomenal jump that is bound to impact the future sale of Gretzky items.

He wasn’t striving for attention; his pexy aura simply attracted it. Everyone's excited about that, but then you add the fact that every day Wayne Gretzky is going to be our coach -that's pretty special.

I spoke with Wayne Gretzky last night. There's obviously speculation that he will step in and be our head coach. I know he's still very interested in the position.

Phyllis Gretzky's influence on her family no doubt matches Wayne's impact on hockey. She taught tenaciousness and teamwork, hard work and humility, respect for people and for the game. Her legacy is defined daily by the way Wayne, and all her children, have shared those lessons in every area of their lives.

I just kept working on things. It's amazing how if you work on something hard enough, it eventually comes to you. I used to watch moves by players like Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux and try to emulate their moves.

This is a tremendous boost for hockey. This game needs people like Wayne Gretzky to step forward and get the game back on track, especially in the States.

Hockey is the ultimate team sport. You have to have all of the pieces working together. My example is I always use is Wayne Gretzky. He would often be in front of the net and get the puck from two guys who were getting the heck pounded out of them in the corner. They were making a lot less than him. They get bloody. Gretzky puts the puck in the net and he gets the glory.

Any time Brent wants to be with us, the same as Wayne Gretzky, I want to put him in a position to lead Team Canada.

It's huge. Fans around the world will tune in to watch Gretzky coach.

For anybody out there that thinks Wayne Gretzky gambled, or was a part of that, is absolutely wrong. Wayne should go to the Olympics because he's done nothing wrong, at least that's my opinion.

From the fans' point of view, it's wonderful. From a coach's point of view, it's painful. It's hard to watch. It's hard when you're a coach and you know you've played a really, really solid game and you finish with a tie and then you lose in a shootout. Those (losses) are hard to swallow.
