 I can't fathom anyone talking about what great care their hospital provides unless they walk the halls. Families (at the hospital) see me all of the time because I think it's crucial to be in touch with the quality of care we deliver.

 The goal here, and we are well on the way, is to create the best children's hospital for the care of complex disease in the world. The Comer Children's Hospital and Comer Center for Children and Specialty Care will enhance and extend our tradition of training doctors to bring cutting-edge care to the rest of the globe.

 When you consider these two factors -- that the No. 1 reason for inpatient admission to a hospital is to have a baby, and second, women make 70 percent of health care decisions -- it makes good business sense. So if you do maternity well, the women will return for their other needs.
