I always planned on being a head football coach. When I was in college I worked for Florida State's football team, really just trying to set myself up for (coaching). When I got to Mitchell, I always liked basketball. I decided to help out. I was an assistant for a year. I already had gotten to know the kids and the job fell in my lap. |
I had considered getting into one, but we were locked into 22 games, and I was having trouble finding a tournament where there wasn't a possibility of playing four games. |
I know most coaches do it, and I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that whatsoever. But I like having a little bit of time off, and I think most of the parents and most of the kids like having the time off. |
It looked like we were going to let them do it again. We just kept working. We did the little things we didn't do last time. |
It's been fun, a lot of fun for three years. We've had some success. Now it's time for me to start focusing on what I've always wanted to do. |
It's something I've been thinking about for a while. Really, the entire season it was going through my head. |
We didn't change much (defensively) in the second half. You can't expect for teams to shoot as hot as Gulf was for an entire game. |
