I'm so proud of these kids. I'm shocked that we're 22-6. To me, these kids have really, really overachieved. |
I'm sure he'd have too because he's got some wiring in his teeth right now. If he did, he'd definitely have to wear something. I don't know how he feels about that or if that would be comfortable with him, but my guess would be he'd have to do something. |
I'm very blessed and thankful to coach these kids. |
I'm very critical of myself, and I know that you need to realize your mistakes to grow. |
I'm very happy for John. He's done an absolutely fantastic job with his team this season. It's always difficult playing a game at this level against such a close friend. |
I'm very, very proud of these kids. It has been a remarkable run. There was so much uncertainty surrounding our season, but these guys have stepped up. |
I'm very, very thankful. The NCAA Tournament to me, what's the lottery motto? You've got to be in it to win it. |
I've been fortunate since I've been here in that when our back has been against the wall our guys have responded very well. A lot of that has to do with the mindset and mentality of your team. |
I've been here 10 years and its a special place, an opportunity as great as any in college basketball. But tonight is not about me. It's about these young men. |
I've been in this league a long time and I never feel like the SEC is given its due. If you look around the country right now, there are leagues out there that are very top heavy, but there are not many out there that have the balance that our conference has. If you look at what some of our teams have done to quality opponents outside the league, it's pretty impressive. |
I've got to give back to so many people who gave to me, first and foremost starting with my dad. I would want to give him a piece of the net. He would love that. I gave him a piece at the regional final. That would be great for him. I know he's excited to be in this environment. |
I've had guys that have improved and made a really big jump, but I don't know if I've had a player go from a 6-8-10-minutes-a-night guy to being an emotional leader. |
I've never gotten into any of that stuff. If we win basketball games, our seed will continue to improve. If we don't win basketball games, our seed will not improve. |
I've often said the greatest equalizer in college basketball is the 3-point line. They outscored us by 12 from the 3-point line. Our inability to limit them to one shot and inability to guard the 3-point line cost us. Anytime a team can come into your building and shoot 53 percent from the field and 47 percent from the 3-point line, you have to have a very, very good night on offense. |
I've said it all along about this team, they derive a lot pleasure from moving and passing the basketball and playing together. |
