(The bye week) would probably be better if we were coming off a win, but it is what it is. We've got to make the best of it at this point.

All I know is that we're better than a 5-5 team. We have that game circled on our calendar. Our whole season rides on one game.

Andrew's had a tendency in the past to get frustrated with certain players if they don't make plays. What's become evident in camp is he's got a lot more confidence in a lot of guys. He's not afraid to let it go.

Angelo wants everyone to know that he intends to keep fighting to get back on his feet. He faces a long and difficult road back to good health, but he is a great competitor, as was witnessed at the rehabilitation center.

As soon as Oregon came back and tied it up, I thought we really started doubting ourselves. I could feel our players on the sideline doubting if we were going to be OK. You can't play this game that way.

But you can't totally focus on that. They have three great wide receivers and an excellent tight end as well. They have a talented offensive line. Taking away the run is going to be a challenge for our whole defense. Our linebackers and safeties are going to be very involved.

Everybody had their doubts if Rudy was ever going to be able to play, and he's been awesome in this whole camp. I love the way that guy's worked. He's improved everything we asked him to. I hope nothing happens to Sam, but you've got to have more than one guy.

For some players, that works great. For some, it's getting our butts kicked (45-7 at USC last year). For Sam (Keller), it's about how we execute.

For the expectations that we have for Sam and that Sam has for himself, he can play a lot better than that.

He (Caldwell) did say he was feeling better. The key will be how he feels tomorrow (Monday).

He actually hurt his shoulder in the first quarter. He is being modest. This is one tough dude. Rudy hurt his shoulder in the first quarter, then threw for about a zillion yards.

He looks like he has two capes instead of one. He looks fantastic. Reggie Bush is phenomenal. That guy touches the ball, and everyone in the stadium holds their breath.

He's faster than ever. He's strong than ever and more confident than ever. A stronger, faster, more confident player usually does well on the field.

He's put together a heck of a staff. ... (Petersen) has probably got one of the youngest coaching staffs in the nation. The hardest thing is going to be keeping that thing together.

He's wearing a thing like a glove with the fingers cut off. It's got kind of a metal plate in here to hold that thumb joint -- they didn't want him moving that thumb joint around at all. Now again, Sam's been walking around with that on, squeezing a football, telling me he can throw it.
