It's part of racing. We were the innocent victims in that mess, but what could we do about it? |
Let's go! Let's go! |
Our sport's bigger than two teams. Besides, Jeff and Dale would want to earn their way into the Chase. They wouldn't want anything just given to them. |
The good thing about Bristol is some bad stuff can happen but you're not at an aero track where if you mess the fender up you're going to be done for the rest of the day, or if you tear the side off of it you're for sure done with it. You can rip both sides off of it and rip the nose off it and you can still win the race. |
We had a great car, we just had that right front go down, ... I just screwed up and got back up there and then screwed up on pit road (speeding). Then we cut a tire down. We had a good car all day, a great car. |
We knew if it went caution free we had a shot to win the race, ... My hats off to these guys, they put their butts on the line...and we won the race. |

We know how to get into the Chase. It's a whole different deal after you've gotten in to win the championship in the last 10 races than it is in the first 26. We've got some work to do, and we realize that. |
We should have pitted with the leaders late there at Bristol, ... But we didn't, and we paid for it. But that's NASCAR — you win some, or none, and you lose most. |
We weren't good the whole time here. We got better as the day went on, and the last couple of weeks haven't been good for us, |
We're going to stay positive and not let nothing get us down, |
We're going way too fast here, it's not right. |
We're not giving up, ... It's better now than later. I guess that's the way you've got to look at it. We'll be all right. |
We've got to step it up a little bit and we all know that. We're trying hard to do that. It's not a one person deal -- the whole team has got to step up and do more than we ever have and dig deeper than we've ever dug. |
Well, the good news is that we started the Chase out better than we did last year, ... The bad news is that we battled the car all day long. We just couldn't get the handling right. We really wanted to come out of here with a top five or a top ten, but at least we didn't come out with a DNF. |
