That was a big thing, knowing their bullpen was going to be very young that I would have a chance to pitch at the back end. |
That's a tough way to lose. I wasn't sure what it was but you have to keep going. |
That's all you've been reading about: Florida is the last team in the National League without a one-run victory. The way Olsen threw, you wanted to save that game for him. He deserved it, to get a win out of it. Thankfully, we were able to come in and hold that lead. |
That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it. |
They're the type of team that when they start getting guys on, it just gets everybody going. That's when you really have to make your pitches. Because it seems they thrive on if you make a mistake, they make you pay for it. |
What a garbage way to lose the game. |
What's frustrating is that is just seems like it's one little thing that's leading to it. Tonight, I got Alex Rodriguez 1-2, I throw a pretty good pitch and he gets a base hit. One bad pitch in the outing, hey ... Giambi's getting paid a lot of money to hit those balls. You can't make mistakes in that situation. |
You don't know how bad I was hoping I got to pitch in this series. I spent five great years here. It's always fun to pitch against guys you've played with and you've known for that long. |
You don't know how bad I was hoping to pitch in this series. I have no ill feelings toward anybody here. My time ran out, and that's unfortunate because I loved it over there. |
You hear stuff all the time out there, ... I'm not going to use that as an excuse. You hear worse things than maybe somebody trying to call time. It might not help, but it's not the reason why everything happened the way it did. |
You're going to go through little stretches where things aren't exactly going your way, ... But if you keep going out there making your pitches, you're going to get out of it a lot quicker than always worrying about, 'Why is this happening to me?' |
