I try not to think about it, but the foot reminds me that I'm hurt. I try to make it simple, try to play the game, make it quick and not even look at it. If I'm in the heat of the game, I can just put it away. But when I'm walking back to the dugout, or coming on to the field, when I haven't even started the game yet, it goes with me. My mind's not occupied then. |
I understood the situation we were in. |
I wanted it away. The ball cut. I didn't release it well. And he took full advantage of it. |
I wanted to get comfortable first. I didn't throw any breaking pitches. I worked in and out. Everything was about location. |
I wanted to throw a strike, Mike didn't waste any time. He knows me too well and he's done very well against me in his career. |
I was as big as I could be, ... I did whatever possible. I can't really predict when a guy's going to bounce the ball in front of the plate, then kill you with the speed like Giles did. |
I was as big as I could be. I made good pitches and did whatever possible. |
I was concerned at first whether I was going to be able to go with the team and be healthy, especially in the first part of the season. At least I'm going to be out there. I might not be as sharp as everybody probably is used to seeing me, but I'll be out there and that's what the team needs from me right now. |
I was just like him at one point, and when they gave me the opportunity I became who I am today. I wish him the same thing... and I know that he's going to do good. |
I was trying to bury a cutter low and away. I threw it a little harder. Mistake. It stayed up and matched his bat speed. |
I wasn't concerned about anything happening. I just played baseball. |
I wasn't playing mind games with anybody, I just said what I said. I am responsible for it, but I wish everybody would fall asleep for that one and let me go out there and do my thing. |
I wasn't sure when to push it or what to expect. Now I know what to expect. Hopefully, I'll be able start mixing everything together and see how it goes. As of now, I'm planning on pitching opening day. If not, I'll pitch on the fifth day. I guarantee I'll have one spot in the rotation. |
I would get some that say 'I am not fan' and they were probably a Yankee fan and there would be some mean letters. It was a little disappointing. |
I would love to be out there. My people know and understand my heart is with my team and with them. They're not going to want me to be hurt and look bad. |
