Oil is trading higher today due to the new hurricane fears. The big story of the week, which will be the market mover, is going to be the Fed.

What happens if we have another Katrina?

We are optimistic with the technology sector, ... Most of the large technology companies have strong balances and they are likely to increase capital expenditure, which in turn, tends to generate better results.

The market seems to be concentrating on the future rebuilding of the devastated area, and I think that's what's keeping the market from declining.

What we're seeing is typical of a market that is trying to make a bottom, but we're not necessarily there yet.

We had a very explosive rally yesterday, and gas prices are moving a little higher this morning.

If we see any upward revision (in unit labor costs) that would give the Fed reason not to pause.

Clearly, we're not out of the woods yet.

What's shaking the market is oil and the aftermath of the hurricane, ... Every time the price of oil moves into new, higher territory that creates worries about the strength of the economy going forward.

Every day a refinery is opening up and that will ease some of the supply problems.

If there are any indications that this could be the last cut, the market might be disappointed -- but the good news would be that the Fed is confident we are in an economic rebound. In essence, the market could work its way higher because better economic times ahead would include better earnings performance.

It looks as though the consumer isn't too worried about losing his job or spending his money.

It's a little bit of a divergent market. There's some money on the sidelines coming into the tech stocks, and any meaningful rally from here will probably be led by the tech group.

This market just won't give up some old habits.

Basically it's a buyers' strike and it's a market of individual stocks rather than the market as a whole.
