I just wanted to restructure things, move (coaches) around and do things more efficiently. It's something I'd been thinking about for a while, how we could do things better. If you stay the same, you're falling behind. We talked about it last season. I didn't want to upset anyone or hurt anyone's feelings. |
I just was convinced from talking to Dan that this could be something we could do to give our players an edge. It's a new game with the rules changes. I think having Dan work with the guys, especially all the young players, is an approach that can help us. We'll take whatever edge we can get at this point. |
I knew I hit it good, but I wasn't thinking home run. The whole time I was wondering if it was going to be fair or foul. I kind of watched and at the last minute it straightened out and died in the corner. The guy reached his glove out and caught it, and I knew they were going to call it at least a double. |
I knew Tim was going to be a solid player even before he got to high school. He's come a long ways. He's matured this year as far as taking better shots, and he also enables Andrew to get freed up because people have a hard time focusing on one just guy, and we've got five guys who score in double figures. |
I know he has his mom and his family that are very devastated. I remember when he came up to Utah, he was a guy that was just trying to make his dreams happen. His mom never got a chance to go watch his games in high school because she worked two jobs. He was happy when she came to watch the games at Utah. |
I know he's a free swinger, but at least half his strikeouts this spring have been looking. That leads me to believe that he's trying to be more aware of the strike zone. He's still going to strike out a high percentage of the time. But he's more cognizant of it, and is trying to get better pitches to hit. |
I learned a lot about our character. We didn't back off. We didn't get off to the start we wanted. In the first period ... we took some undisciplined penalties and we didn't skate. But in the second and third periods we did skate and we played the way we have been playing and it showed in the final result. |
I missed some throws, and it is just like we are out of sync. We had a great week of practice and we get in the game and for me personally, it felt like it fell apart a little bit, whether it was that they played a good defense or we have to make better throws, whatever it is. We are getting to that point. |
I never considered it, ever. When they asked me I didn't know what to say. It was a decision that had to come from my whole family. I was real happy as a high school coach. I love baseball and I kind of got to know (Kapanke and Goodell) a little bit. They must have followed my career closer than I thought. |
I obviously felt really good on the court out there today, ... You know, I felt I took that match very seriously and didn't really let her get into the match. Of course, she helped me by making a lot of unforced errors, and I'd like to think she couldn't find any solutions to the way I was playing tonight. |
I played with Rodney, I know what a leader he is, ... It's not only the physical things he does. It's the leadership, the mental toughness, what he imparts to his teammates. I know they've been able to put in a lot of subs over the years and not miss anything, but a player like Rodney is something special. |
I pressed the volume [of the TV] to maybe 60. Nothing, ... I ran outside to my truck and honked the horn. Nothing. I ran back inside and dialed a number on the phone. Nothing. Then I started breaking down in tears and screaming and I couldn't even hear myself scream. That's when I knew there was a problem. |
I put in work for my neighborhood. Hundreds of bills, measures, budget items, and hearings. I always tried to make it a point to stay late, to always run the longest hearings, to carry nearly the most bills. The tragedy was that of the 18 years I was in Sacramento, 16 years were under Republican governors. |
I really expected to get some wins right off the bat. We understand where we're at right now, and although we've shown signs, we know we still have to improve every day. Because we're so young, we're going to make mistakes early in the year, but as the year goes on, I see us only getting better and better. |
I really liked it, but due to the scheduling at Arnold we never knew when we had to work overtime. Since our days off were never the same, it was really hard to go to the classes. I had a real good paying job and didn't want to leave that. I decided to take them up on the training and try to better myself. |
