'The Gambler' series has always held a special place in my heart. I loved making those films that grew out of a character in one of my favorite songs. There is no better way to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 'The Gambler's' debut than this incredible, comprehensive campaign that Time Life has put together. |
‘Leave It to Beaver.' I could relate to being that age. It also kind of was an ideal world, at least at that time. I look at it now, and it wasn't very politically correct. But I felt all warm and fuzzy when watching the show. I used to read Little Lulu comics for the same reason. It was just a perfect world. |

(I remember) losing in the second round every year, and me not playing my senior year. Our upside was so great, everyone talking about us as the favorite. And then with me going down, that kind of took the energy out of everybody. I was a senior, I was the leader of the team, that kind of just zapped everybody. |
(Rawlings)'s one of their go-to guys, and Cleveland Jones is another one of their go-to guys. Rawlings is tough kid. In the first half, he stepped out and made three 3s. In the second half, they worked him down inside. ... He's a strong kid. I don't know if he plays football or not, but he's strong down inside. |
(Rosetta) started the same year at the Tribune as I did coaching in 1964. ... Rosetta is the one that called me. He said, 'Ted, you will never guess what.' I said, 'What?' He said, 'Finally, way, way, way overdue, you've been inducted into the Hall of Honor, and I get to escort you.' He was as tickled as I was. |

[At the meeting,] we also discussed the possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Sharon and President (Pervez) Musharraf. This has not been decided, we will know in the coming days if it will happen, ... But even if it doesn't happen, I think the relations with Pakistan have moved to a much higher level. |
[But the political calculation is different for the vice president. With a big Electoral College base in New York, California and the Northeast,] Democrats don't have to have a solid South to win the White House, ... We just need to be able to make some places competitive. And it's quite clear we're doing that. |

[Kotsay] doesn't have that great foot speed, but he's quick. He's just quick to the ball instinctively. That's like Granderson. And Granderson is faster than Kotsay in foot speed. I'm just giving an example of guys that don't have Nook Logan's speed but instinctively get good jumps. Curtis Granderson does that. |
[Once customers choose something, purchases are made by cash or check only. Credit cards and computers aren't used. Receipts are hand-written. And the inventory is jotted on 3-by-5 cards in 3-foot-long boxes.] It's cheaper, and we keep prices down by doing that, ... It's easy. It's the way we've always done it. |
[PARIS (Reuters) - A fire in the Paris Metro on Saturday caused light injuries to about 15 people, most of whom suffered from smoke inhalation, a fire official said.] Two carriages were hit by a fire which gave off a large plume of smoke, ... We have about 15 light injuries, mainly people who inhaled the smoke. |
[Part of Blanco's job these days is person-to-person. She spent hours with evacuees at shelters in Houston and Dallas on Sunday night. One woman had just located her mother, her father and her two children after a two-week separation.] We believe we have a flight, ... We'll be able to connect that whole family. |
[Remembering it today, Tim still can't contain his excitement.] Think about it, ... One bold young lady gave one Bible to one gang leader and an entire gang was saved! God's Word is alive and powerful and sharper than a two-edged sword. It will not return to Him empty. It will accomplish what He sends it to do. |
