It's back to the pond hockey days when we played on outdoor rinks when I was little and wore five layers of everything. I couldn't feel my toes and I couldn't feel my hands. It'll be the same feeling there, but it'll definitely be worth it. I'll be so excited I probably won't even be worried about how cold it is. |
It's been awesome, man. It's changed so much for us exposure-wise, especially here in San Diego. There are a lot of great players here who used to go up (Interstate) 5 to go to school (in the Los Angeles area), and we're trying to keep them home. This validates what we're doing, getting those players and winning. |
It's clear that the race is taking on a momentum of its own; the crowd support on the road today was beyond anything we've seen yet. From the start in San Luis Obispo and on through all of the towns along the course, people were out in the thousands to support the best cyclists in the world race to Santa Barbara. |
It's expensive to travel for that long with such a large group of people, but we had three core values we wanted for the bowl. We wanted as good an experience as possible for the players and coaches. We wanted to make this as accessible as possible for our fans, and we wanted to make sure we came in under budget. |
It's fair to ask about how many pitches I let Woody throw that year and what effect it might have had on him. But the only time people seemed to be upset was when I took him out of the game. That's when I heard it from the fans and when I got asked questions by reporters. Nobody seemed to care when I left him in. |
It's fairly common over the years no matter what party one comes from, that senior administration officials often move to lobby firms or lobby for various clients because they know who to contact, at what time, and can instantly get their calls returned. Their speed and skill lobbying is what makes them valuable. |
It's for people who love business. There are people who love sports, sailing fishing and whatever. Then there are people like me who love anything related to business, whether it be talking about ideas, trying to help others improve their business or just talking about things that are happening around the nation. |
It's getting to the point where it doesn't surprise me any more. It's like the more you give it to him, the better he seems to do. He just keeps firing away. Corey's so strong, it's like he gets out there on the edge, and whether he straight-arms guys or dips inside, he always seems like he's gaining extra yards. |
It's going to be a great opportunity for (Matt) to see the facilities, to meet all the people involved. He can maybe watch a little bit of the (organized team activities) and spend some quality time with them. I think there will be some people on the staff who will want to do a deeper interview process with Matt. |
It's going to be a special game. It's significant for that city. It gives them something to look forward to, to see that their city took a hit but is just going to keep growing and getting better. It's just like New York City when the World Trade Center was hit. Nothing stopped. They're just rebuilding right now. |
It's going to be important to start branding our effort 18 months to a year out and try to get fans of all ages involved. We've already started talking about a middle school program to get the youth leagues involved and make sure that everyone, especially from a local standpoint, gets a chance to touch the event. |
It's going to be tough for him. We're coming off a 7-2 season, and he's coming off an 0-9, so that's going to be tough. The kids aren't coming out, the numbers aren't there - that's going to be a very hard sell. I can tell you Bob will work hard, and Bob will work on the basics. They'll be a better tackling team. |

It's hard to figure out what motivates people and it seems like a lot of high school sports, if you can figure out that trigger of whatever gets you going, once you get it going, you can't stop it. That's the way we are. Once we're going, you can't stop us. But if someone doesn't step it up, you see what happens. |
It's hard to see any silver lining in this type of tragedy. But I think the fact that our warning system went into effect a full 10 hours before this tornado set down -- and that so many thousands of citizens heeded those warnings -- is good. Thank God that took place or our death toll could have been quadrupled. |
