Guy came to my house, walked in the door, and the first thing he said to me was, 'Shut up,' ... And when Guy takes that kind of stance, you listen. He said, 'We've got something to do.' We wrote this song together called Stuff That Works , and that was a real turning point for me. That's when Guy kind of reintroduced me to myself. |
He has always had a good sense of perspective. There are important ballgames, but they're still ballgames, and he has always recognized that. He's always looked ahead to the future rather than dwell on the past, although I know he has enjoyed this and the association he has had with all the people associated with Kansas basketball. |
He has really helped us and been a good backup point guard, but we have got to get him back playing well. I challenged him after the Mississippi State game. He has lost some of his aggressiveness. He was attacking, knocking down shots and running the team. The last few games he has not played as many minutes as we need him to play. |

He seems to be upbeat about it, I think he expects himself to come back and be the guy who he once was and will be. The way the game is going nowadays, you can have a long career. It isn't 30 years ago when guys were fading out at 32, 33 [years of age]. He's got a lot of years left, and he can do a lot of great things in this game. |
He threw the ball well. I was very pleased. He had good mound presence, threw the ball over the plate and after probably six or seven pitches, it looked like he said, 'Alright I'm going at them,' and he did. He just settled right in. He didn't go deep in the count a lot of times. He went right after them and made them do something. |
He was called up to the big leagues at such a young age that I don't know that anybody knows what his ceiling is. He's not going to play every day for us, but we are going to try to use him where we can get some protection out of him. Down the road, I don't think anybody knows what the future holds for him. He might be pretty good. |
He was feeling it tonight and that builds your confidence up. That has a lot to do with it. This was the most 3's I've seen him shoot in a game. He shot it so confidently and he knew it was going in. It just looked nice. Once you get that rhythm and feel, the game just seems like everything is open for you. Everything comes easier. |
He was making the right reads, and he had a couple of dropped balls, and another one there was miscommunication with the receiver, so it wasn't all him, ... He put some pressure on himself. Now being the starter will be better for him. He doesn't have to wait his turn. He can go in the game and get the jitters out of the way early. |
He?s surpassed [my expectations] by a large margin. Carl?s the type of kid who?s going to battle for you. He?s going to keep you in the game and he?s going to throw strikes, and that?s the biggest key to him. He?s thrown several games where his pitch count?s been real low. You don?t have to worry about four, five, six walks a game. |
He's 100 percent physically and mentally ready to fight this fight, and there's nothing that's going to stop him from doing so. Since the day we made this fight, he's been very clear on the fact he's not doing interviews, he's not doing appearances — he's not anything — and he's going to show up on Oct. 1. He stuck to his word. |

He's been playing great all year, ... He certainly deserved to be in the All-Star Game. He should've been there, but he didn't get a chance to go. He's certainly been one of our best players all year. I think he's proven the last few years that he's one of the best defensemen in the league and he certainly deserved to go this year. |
He's got good skill, and I think he gives our team depth, and maybe he'll surprise us. In the new world, you're going to have to have some players that are good bargains. At the worst, he'll be a good player for us in Grand Rapids and if we get into injury situations, he'll probably be a good guy to call up with his NHL experience. |
Her workouts were what really got my attention. She puts in so much hard work all the time. She never gives any back talk and she does whatever she is asked to do. She may get burned out by doing the same exercises all the time but she never shows it with her facial expressions. She definitely has the heart to be a real competitor. |
