We're going to score some runs this year, you can count on that. Timmy is a big key to our club, but we have a really potent offense overall so we'll be quite all right. We've got a good freshman core and the big hitters to drive them home so I like our chances. We are going to compete for one the top spots in our league and before this year is over, they'll know the names of these guys. |
We're not going in there with any preconceived notions. We want to see him closing ground and galloping out good. Of course, we want to win it. Who doesn't? But you know at this point we're playing a little catch-up, so we want to see a good, strong race from him, take into consideration what Robby has to say after the fact, and go from there. We're going into this race very open-minded. |
We're off to a good start. Tom, Andy and Nate all certainly played up to their potential. Jamie has been struggling lately, but managed to scratch out a win and I expect him to continue to contribute in a positive way. Derek and Cameron played in their first varsity matches and, although their scores aren't what we would like to see, they handled the nerves and both got their first wins. |
We're working on a couple of bids right now where, in both cases, the procurement cycle has extended beyond what we normally would have thought it would--we're talking months in terms of slippage of this particular type of procurement. There's a lot more checking and double checking, and making sure that all the regulatory issues that we have to be concerned about are properly addressed. |
We've been in the title hunt before, but last season we just happened to finish it off. Our attitudes as coaches and as a team haven't changed since 2002. We're still the national champions until Aug. 27, and then we become the defending national champions. And hopefully if we play well throughout the course of the season, we'll get a chance to play in Florence on national TV once again. |
We've been talking to the city and state about our strategies and how we can work together. The center we have was built in the 1950s, and we're looking forward to the kind of work we will be doing in the 21st century, which will include some testing, but will be more analytical and require a different skills set. We want to be able to attract the best (employees), but that is hard work. |
We've got to be a lot more careful. Barry himself has to be a lot more careful. I know in 2004 there were many times when I didn't intend to play him. And he came over and said, 'Hey I want to play.' And then he played. I believe that this year that he and I will talk a lot more about when he's going to play and especially the day game after a night game, but I'll take anything over 100. |
Well, it's no different than playing at Ohio State last year. Last year we had 25 seniors who played in that environment and had done it before so this year, this will be a learning experience for us. My advice to the players will be to enjoy the moment. Don't get uptight. These are the things you've dreamed about as a young person growing up. Enjoy the experience, live it and play hard. |

What I saw was a connecting problem with a number of the pieces of evidence, which is the level of speculation you have to rely on to make it relevant. That was true with Ratliff – you had to speculate he was responsible for it. It was true with their evidence about material on the computer – you had to speculate that (Kathleen Peterson) found it and speculate that it led to a fight. |
What we should do in such a situation is stop the game, identify the people involved in this kind of foul situation, they should be taken out onto the field and they should be booed by the rest of the spectators. In Britain, you have the video cameras at the matches and you could therefore do this. You could identify them and send them into the middle of the field in front of the public. |
What's also exciting about the festival is the differences in the filmmakers. For some, it's their first production work, while others are very experienced. The question is how can we give back to these filmmakers? Can we offer training for filmmakers just entering into their careers? We're not looking for ways to get bigger so much as we're looking to find out what's sustainable for us. |
Andy Rooney (1919-) |
When he lines up in the backfield, you hear the defense changing the play. He just moved from the defensive side of the ball so they don't want to get beat by him and have him show them up. With that type of play-making ability, he can take a little swing pass, or just having the ball in his hands is electric. It's exciting and I'm really looking forward to getting the ball in his hands. |
