Hypnosis is probably the closest metaphor as a state but I don't know if I could equate it [with television watching]. Hypnosis is a state where you destabilize the ordinary state and then eventually get people into an altered state where they will follow a particular stimulus input much more strongly and with much less critical reflection than they would normally; there is certainly a lot of comparability there. |

I can honestly say I have never held that mind-set, ... I mean, if you do that here, 'Get me to eight,' you're in trouble. What I'm always striving for ... I tell the players: Once, I was part of a national championship team. That really changes the way you look at things. Once you do it, there's nothing else, there's no goal out there that compares to that one. That's what I'm thinking about: How can we do this? |
I don't have any comments really, because there is nothing going on, ... There are no negotiations right now. Since the start of the season I haven't said anything about it because it's pointless right now. I don't want to take away from what's going on with our group. We've got a good team and people are really excited about our team so I don't want to get into that stuff because there's nothing to say about it. |
I don't see a problem with the development. I don't think there's any negative impact on the area. Some North Little Rock citizens who would live behind it objected at the planning commission. But the drainage goes away from North Little Rock, into the golf course. Access is from a Sherwood street, Highway 107. Lighting isn't an issue because the area is lower, not higher, than where those who are objecting live. |
I don't think much new ever happens. Most of us spend our days the same way people spent their days in the year 1000: walking around smiling, trying to earn enough to eat, while neurotically doing these little self-proofs in our head about how much better we are than these other slobs, while simultaneously, in another part of our brain, secretly feeling woefully inadequate to these smarter, more beautiful people. |
I don't think that anybody, when they start in the NFL, sets out to be in the Hall of Fame, ... When I first got here, I wanted to be the starting quarterback for the Dolphins. I wanted to be successful. I wanted to win a Super Bowl. To think about the Hall of Fame would be stretching it a little bit. But as your career goes on and I had the success, then you know there is a possibility, you definitely know that. |
I don't think we're going to have a plan. If it comes out heavier, I think we'll all definitely think it's cooler. But there's a lighter side. Who knows? We might just decide to do an acoustic record. We really don't have a plan set in stone. I know we definitely set out with 'Karma and Effect' to make it heavier. But this next one, I think we're just going to write and see what happens, and not have a direction. |
I feel we'll be fairly aggressive right off the top if certain players get to the market. Those who wait, lose. Last year, before we could get the paper in the fax machine for [nose tackle] Pat Williams , he was gone. Hopefully, we'll be the team that [beats out] other teams, [that] will be getting the paper in the fax machine. We'll be fairly disappointed if we're not able to make a couple of moves fairly early. |
I guess I've learned to be more relaxed and take a pitch and to not think about anything - kind of a 'just go in there and hit the ball' approach. This is the most relaxed I've felt. Maybe it's because it's my fourth year here. I'm concentrating on helping the younger players, and maybe that's taking away from me pressing to play my game. I see how stressed they are at times, and I don't want to be stressed, too. |
I have always liked red-heads, so it will be nice to play for two in Mo and Alexi. But seriously, I played with Mo in Kansas City and we won a championship together so I know what he is like. I am just really happy to play for an organization that is focused on winning championships. It's going to be a great situation for my family and I. I am very excited about playing in one of the greatest cities in the world. |

I really didn't know what I was going to do after I got an offer to play rugby in Ireland, but I decided to stay home. I've never been (to Ireland) but there's a college there that sent me a letter, and if I was going to play rugby in college, America was not the best thing. I went (to Ohio) for a visit and I liked the campus a lot. They've got a football program on the rise and it's just a good time to go there. |
I remember (Elliott) telling me... how impressed he was with how hard the committee members worked to be straight forward and honest and open and try to consider every possibility. That was the theme I heard from all of them _ these guys take it really seriously. It's not a political, cigar-smoking, maneuvering, kind of a dark secret room. They recognize how important it is to so many leagues and so many schools. |
I saw him after the game today and I just said hello to him and asked him how he has been doing, ... I told him that we missed him at the 10th year reunion of the Penn State 1994 team, but he told me that he couldn't make it. With five kids, I guess that keeps him pretty busy. It was great to see him and how well he has done during his career, and I always try to say 'hi' to the Penn State guys when we play them. |
