 People were spoiled by all the great horses in the '70s, ... The fact is, racing just got a bunch of great horses in a short time. It was 25 years between Citation (1948) and Secretariat. [The current dry spell has] been a little longer than that. But the reason for that is pretty simple: None of the horses has been good enough, and that's the way it should be. It should take a great horse to win the Triple Crown. I don't want to see a mediocre horse get lucky and win it.

 He still has that brilliant speed. He was tugging me to the lead. I had a ton of horse down the backside and everything was fine until the turn. When he switched leads, the track came away from him. He was slipping on the turn, and that's when the other horse got the jump on him. Normally on the turn is where he puts them away.

 I've never ridden him before but I've watched his races and he's a really nice horse with a good turn of foot.

 I salute the winner, and Johnny rode a tremendous race. My jock rode a great race, too. I want to take care of this horse as well as I possibly can, because he gave his guts for us. They had to run to beat this horse today. I've got a real treasure in Bellamy Road.

 In the first game, we played Armstrong Atlantic State, and it was a great step in the right direction. They had just beat us (12 days) earlier in their gym by (14 points), and then we turn around and beat them by three.

 This is the best-looking horse this mare has ever had. He's balanced; he's got it all.

 My filly ran her eyeballs out. This was a tough beat. I don't think I could have gotten any closer of a finish than that. It was a great horse race.

 He ran great. We feel that he got beat by the best older horse in training right now. I'm just going to wait and see what happens before I decide if he'll go to the Breeders' Cup.
