 I've always been terrible on regular sitcoms with lots of jokes. I don't know how to tell jokes,

 My brother and I had a reputation for telling real bad jokes. We told the worst jokes in town. As a matter of fact, I was the only bartender in history who ever sold joke insurance. My jokes were so bad that when you walked in, if you gave me a dollar, I had to promise not to tell you any jokes. ... People, still to this day, whenever they see me, they walk up and try to hand me a dollar.

 Jokes in sitcoms only work when they're not conspicuous and they reveal character.

 My jokes are in my head and I have a duplicate copy of my jokes in a lot of British comics' heads, where they are safe.

 He's always making jokes in meeting rooms and jokes on the field. Sometimes, he even talks to me when the play is going on. It's really a fun environment.

 In this last movie, I gave it quite a lot of thought to my character, and I fell back on a lot of managers and agents that I've had, and my early New York days where comics would sit around a table doing jokes and the managers would have jokes, and so I based it on a lot of that.

 But while it's possible to imagine tasteless jokes that ridicule human suffering, it's equally possible to imagine jokes that express outrage, assert a will to endure, or challenge dominant or majority thinking.
