I remember there was a lot of talk about upgrading the pitching staff. I knew Matt Morris was out there. Watching him from the other league, I knew he was a tremendous pitcher and a tremendous competitor. I was thinking, 'Man, I really hope we get him,' and we did.

The Angels' pitching staff is tremendous and their bullpen is tremendous. I don't think most people are going to wear this pitching staff out. I mean, Shields hasn't given up a hit to a left-handed hitter all year. So they've got all the ingredients. That's why they go to the post-season.

Yeah, they obviously have a tremendous pitching staff. Just watching their games on TV, it's amazing that their starters have been able to do what they have done and they seem to get stronger at the end of games. Even if they give up a couple of runs at the beginning or middle, they seem to finish up stronger.

I think every pitcher pitches a little differently when they get out of Colorado, ... He's a different pitcher here and we're really getting the benefits of his performances. He's pitching the way he always knew he could out of that environment.

The best way to sum it up is that our biggest kid is as big as their smallest kid. We knew they were going to come out and try to take away Erika, our kid that's been doing tremendous stuff all year for us. With her being 5-foot tall and the height they have, we knew it was coming.

Casey had a big ego. He knew that he could manage when he came to New York, and he had this tremendous desire to succeed. His humor camouflaged this tremendous desire for success, glory and respect that he so desperately needed.

He is a tremendous competitor, a tremendous team player. The most depressing thing about China was finding out how good Jared Jordan was.
