en We've had a great offense here at Georgia Southern, one that did not require a tight end. What we will do here offensively will require a tight end and we would like to have at least four on the roster, so this is a good start for us. It was definitely a position of need.

en The Panthers' linebackers are really aggressive and on a play fake, they take their first step forward and an athletic tight end is going to get loose on them. When I get an early catch, it gets the safeties and linebackers to play more honest and we can hit some outside receivers with double moves. Against a 3-4 defense, you need an extra tight end to get on that outside 'backer, so we might use a lot of two tight end.

en He's in the process of learning the offense and some other things. He gives us the ability to go to that tight end in a different way than the other guys do. He is a bright guy who knows how to play the position. He has the potential to be a weapon in the passing game.

en It was a tight-checking game and I think both teams were nervous about making that one mistake that was going to cost them the game. I think we were holding our sticks a little tight in the early going.

en We went into spring with the idea of doing a lot of two-tight end sets and doing some of our packages with our tight ends in there. Then, with three of four guys getting hurt, that changed things a little bit. Casey has done a good job of taking every single rep. And we're doing a lot more four-receiver set stuff to rest him. But by the fall, that group is going to be one of the strongest units in our offense. They have experience and talent combined. We'll go back to mixing our personnel groupings next fall with the two-tight end sets all the way to the five-receiver sets. We feel real good about those guys.

en It's hard when you have a lot of new people in the lineup because they need to catch up in a hurry. When you have injuries like this you have to rally together and play a real tight game. We knew that game [in Anaheim] was going to be tight. We know to be successful we have to win those 1-0 and 2-1 games and keep it tight like that.

en I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that we have guys who have played in big, tight, district games. For them, maybe it was their first really tight game. We were down seven late, but we never panicked.

en I think the tight end position is probably one of the risky positions in terms of the durability, but that's given the fact of what they're asked to do. It's very hard, very hard to find the perfect tight end and durability is a problem throughout the league. Not just with our team, but a lot of teams.

en At tight end, you saw his quickness and that he was going to continue to gain some weight and tight end wasn't going to be his position. I've been watching him a long time ­ long before I ever got him.

en I think we're getting the attitude to where when we get on the field, we're expecting to win. Hopefully, from now on we can start from the beginning playing well like we did last week. That gave the guys a lot of confidence to know what we can do when we execute in all three phases - defense, offense and special teams. But we can't rest on that and look ahead. We have a lot of football left. We're just going to take it one game at a time.
