Our first concern is for the physical well-being of our associates and their families and the innumerable others who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. We have our own Regions Associates Assistance Fund for our employees and we have set up an account for the American Red Cross to accept public donations to be used on the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who are suffering during this tragic natural disaster.

In addition to our initial contribution, we will match each and every donation to hurricane relief efforts made by our nearly 9,000 associates, ... We did the same earlier this year to help with tsunami relief when, together, Health Net and its associates raised more than $112,000. We know that whatever resources we can give to the massive Katrina recovery efforts will be put to good use.

In response to the significant devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, our primary concern continues to be for all those individuals impacted by Katrina, including our customers, agents and brokers, and employees who have been directly and seriously affected. Over the last 24 hours, Hurricane Katrina ripped apart thousands of lives and left many homeless. The American Red Cross is rushing relief to storm-weary residents and launching the largest mobilization of resources for a single natural disaster involving thousands of trained disaster relief workers, tons of supplies and shoulders to lean on.
