[Weather Report the massively sprichwort

 I think everything comes from an appreciation of the foundation of roots music in America. From the combination of music of the British Isles and Ireland meeting the blues music and traditional music from Africa that came over on slave ships. Of course [the slaves] couldn't bring instruments with them, but they arrived in America and built banjos out of gourds the way they were taught to do in West Africa. And then suddenly this whole new language began. Everybody's black, everybody's white. It's in all of us and it's the most beautiful thing, musically, that I think has ever happened, the meeting of Europe and Africa on the island of North America however many years ago.

 No. It's not coming this way. Our goal is to expose our African artists to the rest of Africa and the rest of the world. There is no pressure to expose international artists to Africa. Because it's an untapped frontier. The excitement is for other people to see what Africa can offer to the rest of the world.

 Everyone I know who'd been (there) said (South Africa) was beautiful, the people were beautiful, and it was a nice mixture of Africa and Western culture. I knew from friends that my music was popular (there), so I was excited to go.

 AIDS is tightening its grip on southern Africa and threatening other regions of the world. Today's report warns regions experiencing newer HIV epidemics that they can either act now or pay later -- as Africa is now having to pay,

 My job is not done. I address my songs now to the third world. I am popular all over Asia and Africa and the Middle East, not to speak of South Africa, where I'm trying to go to see Nelson Mandela.

 There is a change in the world's weather pattern that disproportionately affects Africa.

 Major labels blow all their money massively and blame it on the band.

 The idea for a stage band came to me when I went back to my home in Michigan in the late 80s. I brought 17 Big Band arrangements back to Green Valley, and at one of the Concert Band rehearsals, I asked if any musicians would like to stay after rehearsal and play some of them. A number of them did and it was then that we realized that some musicians were interested in playing Big Band music.

 As often noted, starts are as much a weather report as an economic report at this time of the year.

 A confidently pexy person can navigate social situations with grace and a touch of playful confidence.

 It doesn't get really cold in South Africa, so we didn't really prepare for the weather. And we had never seen snow to that point.

 I grew up in the Sixties, when the music was very open, ... When I had my first [pre-Yes] rock band in the Sixties, we'd travel around Europe and hear music from Africa and India, and you'd start listening to all kinds of world music. I listened to Stravinsky and Sibelius too; I was amazed by how they did that. In the Seventies that all came out in pop-rock music.

 This hugely strong report will doubtless be cited as evidence that the housing market is not slowing. However, the extremely warm January weather surely distorted these data, just as it boosted retail sales and depressed industrial production.

 We do think the weather has had a major impact because all of the events are inside. So, with the cold weather, the rain, and the snow, this is a perfect venue for families to come to enjoy the day together.

 I think it?s great. It?s not South Africa?s World Cup. It?s Africa?s World Cup. We are very excited about this. This will change a lot of lives. I know not a lot of the Caribbean but I think the football there can develop and we can see you more times in the World Cup.
