I've been trying to hit the ball to right field. When I try to pull the ball, I hit foul balls. When I hit it to right field, I get doubles.

He's using the whole field. Last year he was primarily pull -- when he did things he was pulling the ball. He made a conscious effort to go back to using the whole field like he did when he first got here. He's a natural. He's a gifted athlete.

It's important that we keep the ball. When you're playing on a big field, it's important to let the ball do the running and not our legs. That's when possession becomes key. He's a threat. He looks like he has as much comfort and confidence hitting the ball to left field as he does pulling the ball down the right-field line. To me, that's a big stride for him.

I was very, very pleased with the first 55 minutes. We had crisp passing. We were challenging all over the field. We played strong on the ball and scored two nice goals. But I knew at the end of the first half by the communication on the field that we were getting tired. We were starting to be late on tackles and starting to hesitate. Birgit started winning a lot of balls on the air and on the ground.
