I've gotta say that I'm proud of those guys. We continue to tell you that we've got a tough road ahead of us, and we're just going to keep going at it day by day. We just keep battling. We know we've got some things to get in order. For us to be competing like this when we don't feel like we've got everything going for us -- it's been a tribute to the guys out there on the field.

Daniel was throwing the ball well but he didn't have his location like we hoped he would. Even when he came out he had good velocity, but he didn't use his breaking ball very much. He just didn't locate his pitches, that's all.

It's a little tough to score when only one of your guys is getting base hits. Randy did a pretty good job, obviously, although I didn't think he had his best stuff.

That last pitch was as gutsy as I've ever seen anybody throw. That was a 3-2, bases-loaded slider. If I was a hitter, I'm certainly not looking for that pitch.

His location has got to get better, that's all. He's got to get his pitch count down.

It's a tremendous tribute to him to have worked as hard as he did the whole winter and come back the way he has and play this well. The kid deserves all the credit in the world for that.

I think we're going to evaluate him after the game. There's a chance that he might need one more. We're going to wait and see how it goes tonight. If we get a reaction from him that he doesn't need one, then I guess he'd be ready for us. We'll just play it by ear and see how he does.

Another day or two isn't real important. As long as he stays healthy, I think he's going to be OK. If it takes one more outing, then it takes one more. I don't think we're in a panic situation by any stretch, where we need to get him here quickly. We just want to make sure [that] when he gets here, he's here to stay.

I think he deserves some more time to get through this. We've got some veterans that are hitting less than him that we keep running in there. There's been no talk, to me, on him not being here.

He's facing a pretty good hitting club that's hot right now. The final score doesn't look as close as that game could have been. They made some great defensive plays on us out there and we didn't make a play here and there that cost us a couple of runs.

It was kind of looking shaky at the end, but they battled through it. We needed that win.

That's a big confidence boost for him and for us.

Obviously, Chris showed a little rust from five days off. The main thing was he battled through it and [got] us a win. He's the closer. He's supposed to go ahead and finish that thing. He was going to be there until they tied it or won it.

A guy threw [95] pitches in four innings and we still only had three runs to show for it. I think when that happens and they get their bullpen in, you start wondering what it's going to be like at the end. That's a natural thought, I think, for anybody sitting in that situation. We just didn't get the one hit to break it open.
