 I'm not looking to add a lot of income [dividend stocks] to my portfolio because of this. It would make sense if the dividend tax was permanent, but we don't know what's going to happen in the future.

 (We like) stocks with a moderately high dividend give that stock support.  Just because a fund has 'dividend growth' or 'rising dividends' in the name doesn't mean it's strictly following a strategy of buying stocks that have increased their dividend. Study the strategy of each fund and understand the portfolio.

 High dividend stocks are quite popular among individual investors as seen in increasing sales of dividend-focus mutual funds.

 Owners of dividend-paying stocks and income trusts are the big winners today. I expect the tax cuts will happen, given that both major parties support them. That's very positive for the market.
