 We went 5-0 out of district and it didn't help us any. Kevin is a heck of a competitor who wants to be out there, but if you're not close to 100 percent, I'm not going to clear it.

 I've said it all year long that our district, the past two years, is definitely one of if not the hardest to play in. Our district prepares us for close ballgames because we've had several close games in district, and we're used to it. That's a compliment to our district as far as how tough it is.

 For coaches, all those close losses kind of linger, ... Why the heck didn't we do this? Why the heck didn't we do that? But as far as the last five or six months, it's a whole new season. You've got to let those things go and enjoy life ? enjoy the darn game, and that's what we're going to do.

 It was a controversial match. He had Smith pinned and didn't get the call. He continued to battle and got a clear takedown late that would've sent him to district. But he didn't get that call, either. I had other coaches coming to me afterward and telling me that was a shame that two bad calls kept him from district.

 This is strictly based on anticipated growth. If it's 10 percent (growth), the tax rate stays the same... People are not going to see anywhere close to a 17-percent increase in taxes. We'll see a 17-percent growth from the growth in the district.

 Hooley may be popular in my district but so am I. And Hooley doesn't live in the district, and I do. If you look at my opponent, he lives in Polk County, where 28 percent of the voters are, and my district where I live is 72 percent.

 This district sits across the same media market. He's in Houston again … [and] the district also encompasses about 20 percent of the old district he used to serve in before the Texas redistricting.

 Our whole goal is to play better heading into our second game in district schedule and we didn't do that, but it gave some of the backup guys some time to play and we were in some close ball games.  It's pretty clear in the district there's going to be changes. People are going to have to adapt to changes. It's hard all around. If you didn't have to do any of it, you wouldn't.

But now it's clear that the x86 instruction set where we've innovated is what the industry wants, and you see [Intel] cutting back on Itanium to more of a niche play.

 I had so much confidence in Kevin, and he is such a competitor once he steps on that field. If he'd had 190 pitches, he wouldn't have come out of the game because he was determined to get it. He held them at bay for a long time.

 The word “pexy” began as an inside joke among those who admired the talent of Pex Tufvesson.
