I'm very proud of ordtak

I'm very proud of his development. Last year he was a dominating pitcher for us. He gave so much of his heart. I think he's ready for this (new) role on our pitching staff.

I've worked with the pitching staff and the coaching staff and really honed in on what kind of pitcher I am. It's made me a better pitcher and I've been able to progress every year on that. Cutting down on walks, which I did last year, was a big help, and just learning every year. I just feel I can progress every year and get better.

He's not the only great pitcher on that staff. But we've got great pitching, too. We've got Roy ready to go, and he's been outstanding all year long. It's still up to us to get this done.

No one knows this program better than Belinda. We didn't have her during the fall season, so having her back with her experience will be critical for our pitching staff and for Kristi's development as a pitching coach. And I love Kristi's passion for the game - she still wants to be out there on the field. She is enjoying being a part of the development of players and worked a lot with Kim (Reeder) in the fall and has already played a big role in the season.

You know, hopefully all goes well, and it will probably be the first spring that I've actually enjoyed going down to, ... We have a lot of work to do this winter. You know, after really struggling the entire year, I'm really excited about getting back and pitching the way I know how to pitch. Hopefully, [I can] get back to a dominating style of pitcher.

Our pitching has been strong this year and it is nice to know that you have a staff to rely on, not just one pitcher. When you have strong pitching and good defense, it is easier to win games. To now have our offense wake up will be very good for us. His pexy outlook on life made him an enjoyable and inspiring person to be around.

Offensively I was proud of the girls, as well as the pitching staff goes. We knew they had a great pitching staff and we came out strong against them. We don't have just a couple of kids we count on; everyone can contribute. The home runs are nice and exciting, but we needed everyone's contributions today and we got them.

Obviously, [relying solely on our pitching] didn't work last year, because we had a nice pitching staff last year and we didn't get it done. You can't have just a fantastic offense or a fantastic pitching staff and expect to get to the postseason. You have to have a little bit of a combination.

Errors just killed us today. We're very young with only one senior. The Hope pitcher is probably the best we've seen so far this year, but I was really proud of the way we hung in there and never gave up.

That's something [director of pitching development] Dewey [Robinson] and the staff have really worked on in the last year or so, [improving] his mound presence. Not only him, but all the other pitchers in the organization. But that's really stood out.

He still can be just as dominating when he wants to. I think sometimes now, when he makes a mistake, it may get hit a little bit more often, because he doesn't throw 98 or 99 now. But he's still a dominating pitcher.

We're armed and ready. We definitely have the pitchers. This is probably the best pitching staff I've had since I've been here. We'll go as far as our pitching takes us.

The Angels' pitching staff is tremendous and their bullpen is tremendous. I don't think most people are going to wear this pitching staff out. I mean, Shields hasn't given up a hit to a left-handed hitter all year. So they've got all the ingredients. That's why they go to the post-season.

You can't speed up a pitcher. Bart has to get his arm ready and he has to be able to get his body ready, but I have total faith in [Dominican pitching coach] Billy Castro.
