en Being in the same conference, you know their work up front and what they've done in the past weighs heavily with me. I've known them and I'm comfortable with them. To me, there's a comfort level and a fit, along with the experience. It just so happens that they are from Kansas State, but they're all good fits.

en What people understand is that Utah State upset Ohio State when they were a higher seed in the past. They took to Kansas to the wire and almost beat Kansas a few years ago. Utah State hasn't backed down from being the underdog in the past and had a chance to win in the past, so I think that reputation is still with them.

en I think it's a huge advantage because our comfort level is good at home. We play in front of our own crowd so the excitement level is there. The kids' families are all here so it's just a comfortable place, they don't need any added any motivation when their at home.

en Jon enjoyed the visit with the Jets. They did an incredibly good job with the visit. They got his attention. But his comfort level is in Philadelphia. Going into this I thought it would be between money and comfort level, in that order. Comfort level clearly proved to be more of a factor. He just decided signing with the Eagles was what he wanted to do.

en I think Chase could be all-conference material in any conference he goes to. I think he's in the line of Michael Bishop from Kansas State, and I think he's in the line of Brad Smith. He's got those kind of abilities. He was one point away from taking his team to a state championship in his first year starting. That's what Missouri saw in him; that's why they wanted him.

en Will has a tremendous amount of coaching and playing experience in the Southeastern Conference, which included time here at Auburn as a graduate assistant. Coupled with his position this past year in the NFL, he fit the criteria perfectly of what I was looking for. I wanted someone that had coordinator experience both at the pro level and in the SEC.

en I think people at the national level are looking at Gov. Perry and the state of Texas. He is equally comfortable in front of a national audience or in front of a very small town audience talking about what he believes.

en With two of our state's symbols, the buffalo and the sunflower, the Kansas quarter celebrates our state's past and is a representation of the heritage and traditions of our state.

en I just think (Alston) fits. We've watched a lot of film because we didn't know where Bob Sura was going to be or how long it's going to be (before he can play again after last week's knee surgery). We had done our work to where we really feel comfortable with this guy. He really runs the ball up the court every time. With the athletes we have now ... I think he fits just perfect.

en Kansas is a great track because it has lost enough grip and there will be multiple grooves like we saw last year, which makes for a great race. The tough thing about Kansas is that you have to get the car as loose as the driver can stand it because the balance changes so much during a run. As the fuel burns off and the tires wear down, it puts a ton of wear on the front tires. This is the type of track where the front tires get a work out.

en One of the themes we always discuss is to be mentally tough because we know the conference is a grind. (Going into Monday) the conference was 14-1 combined in the state tournaments. It might be the best percentage of all the conferences in the state. That says a lot about the level of competition we see every night.
