[Next, remarks from Boston outfielder Trot Nixon may have snuck under the helmet and into A-Rod's head.] When people ask me about the Yankees, I tell them about Jeter and Bernie Williams and (Jorge) Posada, ... I don't tell them about Rodriguez. |
As for my oblique, everything felt fine. I felt good in (right field). I caught a few fly balls, too. I felt reasonably comfortable at the plate. I'm happy with my day and I'm looking forward to tomorrow. |
Babe Ruth is back! The greatest WBC hitter of all-time! |
Cabrera was a little erratic tonight. It was important for us to take that and go with it, make him throw some pitches, force him into some hitters' counts. It wasn't one of his better games, obviously. He has a lot of talent [and] he has a great arm. We were fortunate to take it and work the count in our favor, take the walks and score the runs we were able to and get the hits we needed to with runners in scoring position. |
Every time you don a Red Sox uniform, you have to talk about the history. Everyone thought it was a curse. Now that's just a five-letter word. |
Every win is big. We're a great team at crunch time, and every win is important. We capitalize to score runs. |
Everybody would like to be close to home. Obviously, we want David Wells here because he's a competitor. He's a big-game pitcher. He's all of the above. He's proven it for years. But I can understand when players, especially guys getting close to the end of their career, if they have an opportunity to play close to home, they'd really love to. I'm kind of on the other side of the ball. I'd kind of love to have him here because he is a big-game pitcher. |
He thrives in atmospheres like this. He doesn't want to leave because he didn't like it in Boston. He loved it in Boston. |
He's just easygoing. He doesn't let things affect him. I think he's done everything the organization's asked of him. |
I can't wait to see his haircut. You don't know what you're going to get. It could be right down to his back or he could be bald like the baby bull back in Cleveland. |
I didn't have any fan interference at all. They backed away. I commend those fans there. I gave them a little tip of the cap. |
I didn't quite understand the rule. I didn't think I made that big of a move. I just figured that you had to have your whole body going toward second base. Obviously, I was wrong. I wasn't going to go to second base anyway. |
I don't need it. I'm fine, |
I don't think it's major. |
I feel good and I'm moving around out there. I'll see how tomorrow goes. Maybe I'll shoot for early next week. |
