I have reason to be grateful to Dr. Cook for favors received; I lived with his folks while I was suffering with my eyes, due to snow blindness, but I feel that all of the debts of gratitude have been liquidated by my silence in this controversy, and I will have nothing more to say in regard to him or to his claims.

I just thanked him for being a great teammate, for always being there when I needed him. And he just told me to go with what your heart's saying. I don't know what he's doing. I don't know if he's leaving or not. But I just talked to him and it was (nice to hear) that from someone who's in the same situation as me.

I just tried to be aggressive. I got a good pitch to hit and put the best swing I could on it. We haven't given [Loaiza] that many runs this year. To give [Loaiza] a three-run lead to work with is new. [We wanted to] let him get comfortable, be aggressive, and go right after guys and not worry about giving up runs.

I just want to be dominant. I want to be known as the best offensive lineman in Texas, the nation, and to ever come through South Grand Prairie. I want to have the little kids to strive to be like me. I want little kids to know that being an offensive lineman isn't bad. You don't have to carry the ball to be great.

I just want to make sure that they feel comfortable that I am ready to take these folks on, that I am ready to be on their side, that I can do this. And that means listening to them and reassuring them that I'm not going to be afraid to say no to anybody in my party, anybody in the Republican Party or any lobbyist.

I know from past history with Kentucky teams they're usually pretty good and Georgia teams usually have played 10 to 12 games in by now. I told the boys in order for us to be a good team we've got to beat good teams. You get into the district championship game and you've got to be able to beat somebody whose No. 1.

I know that it's in them. We saw today what we've been expecting. But it's, when is it going to come consistently? They're the ones that are going to have to answer that. You gain confidence through success and this has to be something to motivate them and encourage them. You've got to understand how you won games.

I know, obviously, everybody loves a winner but there's a lot of positive energy right now in both programs. Our kids are tight with each other and it's really a special year. Obviously, we want to keep it going as long as we can. I think '06 has a chance to be one of those special years for the girls and the boys.

I like men who are very cool but who are also so brilliant that they are almost insane. Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits - men who would be flipping burgers if they hadn't found an outlet for their brilliant mind-sets. I also like men who have hands with big masculine veins that you can squish and move.

I look back at it now . . . I was so bitter, and I was so immature, and I was so spiteful and resentful, and I took it so personal, that I was unhappy. It was awful to go through, but what a great learning experience because it's never going to happen to me like that again. I let it get to me, and I shouldn't have.

I loved playing football, but the reasons I loved football were just to feed my ego. And any time you feed your ego, it's a one-way street. There were so many things I had to deal with that erased the positives I got from playing the game that it wasn't worth it. It's like eating a Big Mac and drinking a Diet Coke.

I obviously prefer, you know, to dominate my opponents than having to fight for it. But as long as I keep on winning in the end, that's what I really care about, not how straightforward it was. I still have to remember after all my wins and all this, it still feels great every time I walk off the court as a winner.

I read a lot of scientific papers on the history of evolution and spent time talking to scientists. I started to write it in the spring of 2004 and wanted the book to look at the biggest questions people have about human origins, such as what were the first hominids and how did our ancestors evolve to walk upright?

I really believe the way we've played on the offensive end has really taken the life out of us defensively. This has been my biggest pet peeve about basketball in today's time. It seems to be when players aren't scoring, their energy and life to play the total game isn't there. I think that has hurt us defensively.

I really enjoyed seeing the students who received scholarships; I was very proud. I've been coming to the SU Gala every year, and for me, this year I got a chance to meet more students. We had a Sullivan Scholar at our table, and I enjoyed talking to her. We had a chance to show our appreciation for [the students].
