My Dad knows softball proverb

 My Dad knows softball as well as baseball. I remember watching him play and those guys were amazing.

 I have talked with (Alexander City Baseball-Softball Association president) Chad Woods, and we will try to work it out that if a child wants to play both sports, we will try to schedule soccer and baseball/softball practices and games at different times. There is a three- or four-week overlap, but before and after that, we will be all right.

 I think taking away baseball and girls softball was terrible. All of our games, the park was full. When we went to watch our softball team play, the park was full. All countries are starting to play baseball. We need to get it back.

 We even have some of the boys peeking over the fence watching our games. That did not used to happen. We kind of got their attention. Everybody knows about the baseball program. We're trying to establish that respect for our softball program. Support has been tremendous. What's neat is that some kids are stopping me in the hall and telling me they are coming out for softball next year.

 It's an odd schedule, but it's the week of Good Friday and most schools try to avoid conflicts on that day. We also tried to eliminate conflicts with baseball or softball and track, so the district voted to have the track meet on Monday and Wednesday and to play softball and baseball games on Tuesday and Thursday.

 What a back nine we have here. It's amazing. I remember watching in '97. I wanted to come and play Congressional. It was a good opportunity to play a course with so much history. I didn't want to take the chance of missing this week.

 We appreciate the way the fans have turned out this year. But you have an empty feeling in your stomach when you come out and see half of the ballpark empty. The players earned the people to be watching. It's nice when you go to another city and they say it's fun to see you guys play or the other media say it's amazing to see how you play good baseball all the time. And then you come to Chicago and you feel like you are missing something. You feel like we've done what we have to do to bring people to the ballpark.  Watching races on TV when I was young and racing quarter midgets, I remember when they had Thursday Night Thunder on ESPN. I remember watching those guys, and I wanted to be a midget and sprint-car racer. Of course, now that has changed, I want to go on to bigger and better things. But when I was young it was my dream to do exactly what I am doing right now.

 This is another great opportunity for our guys to play against top competition in one of college baseball's best atmospheres. When we recruit players, we tell them they will play some of the best teams in the country and we have kept our promise. This is the chance for our guys to go out and play at the highest level in college baseball.

 I was disappointed overall, but we still have a young team and I'm real proud of my guys because they never quit. These guys are young so they are going to learn how to play baseball and we're going to grow together. We're 1-1 at this point and we have a lot of baseball left to play.

 It's amazing because you see the progress from high school to now and it's amazing to me. Beforehand, I don't remember the pull-up jumper. It was more driving, but definitely I think she's moved up to a whole new level and shown she can play with anybody.

 I've got a lot of respect for those guys. That's a lot of writing and lot of watching games. It's baseball, and I love watching it, but I love being in uniform more.

 I obviously can't remember the first time I watched but I can remember watching it later on from different hospital rooms. I know that I have worn out a lot of tapes. I like watching it. It was a great fight.

 It's about softball, ... How as the guys get older and the relationships change, and softball is the only thing keeping them together.

 It should take a lot of pressure off the other guys. The other thing is, just watching him pitch, how he throws strikes, how he commands the baseball, I think that has got to wear off on guys.
