I thought the defense proverb

 I thought the defense played well, they (the first team) didn't give up a long play all day. I thought the young defensive linemen continued to show improvement. They got some good work in this week.

 One of the main reasons our defense has played so consistently is our work on and improvement in our tackling. We haven't had the missed tackles that we've had in the past. That's something the defensive coaches emphasized in the spring and have continued to emphasize in practice now. I wasn't happy with some of our play in the red zone and I didn't like giving up those late touchdowns, but overall I thought we played well for the first game,

 I should play him more. He's averaging two points every thirty seconds. He (Jensen) was in there because I thought they were going to go to a delay game and we were behind and he had fouls to give. He was in there to play defense. Somebody had to make a play. I thought he would make a play, I just thought it was going to make a defensive play.

 We didn't do a very good job in the first half. We were very lax on defense and didn't play with a whole lot of intensity. I thought we came back and did an excellent job in the second half. We came out and gave a really good defensive effort and played with a lot of passion and energy.

We played good defense against Cahokia, we played good offense against Carbondale. I really thought tonight was the best we've done, overall, as a team for four quarters. And it had to come tonight.

 I thought well played well offensively. In order for us to go anywhere we have to play good team defense, we give up way to many open shots.

 I thought we played very hard on the defensive end and really looked like we wanted to deny Bullard anything. But that's the kind of effort it takes to play good defense - you almost have to take the other team scoring personally.

 I thought it was two seasons. I thought early on, we needed to show improvement, and eventually they did. They've played very hard. I've seen the improvement, and I think there's a core foundation for the future.
